Details About Opportunities with Us
Career Work for Network Engineers, Computer Support Specialists, Security Consultants, and Remote Help Technicians Progent is seeking to hire fulltime, solutions-oriented Microsoft certified engineers with Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification; Cisco certified system engineers with Cisco certification; security consultants with CISSP or comparable security credentials; and high-end network architecture experts with experience in mobile solutions, wireless connectivity, high availability, business continuity, information preservation, and virtual servers. Progent also seeks professionals to work on our staff of desktop support technicians and remote support professionals. In addition, We are seeking experienced managers who can operate productively in our high-growth, virtual office environment.
By supporting a staff of talented and dedicated consultants, providing attentive client care, and offering a competitive results-based pricing structure, Progent has been able to increase our client base dramatically while delivering professional support to numerous businesses in Northern California and across the U.S. An advanced virtual office environment, a common information base, and a team approach to problem solving have allowed Progent to maintain a skilled staff and a satisfied client base.

We are looking for technical professionals who have recognized credentials related to their technical expertise. So, if you are a Microsoft expert, you must have your MCSE certificate. For Cisco experts, have your Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert or Cisco Certified Network Professional certificate. For network security, you should have you CISSP, CISA, Certified Information Security Manager, or one of the other leading security credentials. Of course, Progent is aware of “paper MCSEs.” Still, the fact that a certificate can not ensure expertise is no excuse for not earning one. If you have mastered your stuff, then most of those tests should be no great difficulty. The crux of the matter is that if you call yourself a professional, then clients expect credentials. We can broadcast your skills, but you should provide a baseline of credentials for Progent to work with. In case you happen to be adamantly opposed to the concept of credentials, we can understand and respect your position, but you are likely not a good fit.

To promote the success of Progent's consultants, we invest significantly in providing the most powerful technology to do the job properly. Progent will leverage technology to an extraordinary extent and our state-of-the-art virtual office environment allows effortless communications, collaboration, and knowledge sharing with other Progent consultants — all from home-based or on-the-road offices. Consultants don’t throw away time or forfeit revenue with daily drives to a conventional office building, and any travel you do for in-person customer work is based on your own time table, not ours. The most attractive benefit is that much of our consulting work can be done off-site, representing 100% efficiency for billable time. In fact, some Progent staff do off-site consulting only.
Our operations are geared towards reacting quickly and efficiently to client requirements via information exchange and collaborative problem resolution. Even though Progent's engineers operate with a great deal of freedom, resource allocation is centralized, customer problems and resolutions are carefully monitored, documented, and archived for easy reference, current engineer availability is broadcast to facilitate team projects and simplify trouble escalation, and customer satisfaction is always monitored. We reinforce the sense of cooperation via monthly workgroup meetings and quarterly company-wide events.
The majority of our team is located throughout California, but we are building a rapidly expanding group of network experts from across America. Progent's virtual office environment eliminates geographic boundaries that limit the efficiency of traditional business models. We enhance the deal by offering a comprehensive employee care program to ensure the physical health and financial security of our team members and their relations.
Just as we have world-class consultants, our sales and operations groups match the excellence that is Progent. These top-notch contributors to Progent’s growth are enabling us to target and sign up the scores of new clients we are now engaging each month. We lately marked the providing of services to our 1,000th customer. Try typing “Cisco consultants” or “Microsoft consultants” into Google to see for yourself why Progent is also a strong sales organization.
Possessing a commitment to technical proficiency is a cornerstone for success with Progent. A career in consulting will push you to enhance your skills more than you would in any other job in network technology. Being confronted by a steady series of network challenges is what keeps consulting interesting. Customers choose consultants to perform the toughest jobs. Creative projects, advanced deployments, vexing or chronic issues, and tricky migrations are the foundation for what we do every day. At Progent, you will not stagnate or be pigeonholed, as is sadly typical for network professionals in traditional corporate roles. You will wake up every morning excited about the challenges ahead.
Along the way, you will work with some wonderful people, both by establishing strong client contacts and by operating in conjunction with other Progent team members, where you will benefit from and add to their success. Yes, technology is vital, but Progent is a relationship-focused organization from top to bottom. If you do not have strong communications skills or like cooperating with a diverse assortment of people, then we are probably not a good fit.
If this seems right for you, we urge you to contact Progent about our view of the future of network consulting.
