Primary Activities

Help a variety of small and midsize businesses to maintain computer systems powered by MS Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows XP, MS Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003, MS Exchange Server 2007 and 2003, and .NET platform. Cooperate extensively with customer's network support staff or provide full-service IT outsourced services. Required fields of expertise include Exchange-based email, Active Directory design, Protection, server monitoring, and system infrastructure.

Cooperates Extensively with:
President of Progent, Progent Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers and technical sales staff, as well as Chief Information Officers and top management of small and midsize firm customers in the San Francisco Bay Area, and select areas across the United States


Duties

Support and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows 2008 or 2003 Server-based computer systems. Work on-site and offsite to diagnose and resolve both urgent and chronic problems related to reliability, security, capacity, accessibility, and general capability.

Install, setup and validate MS Windows-powered program hosts and Microsoft .NET servers. Configure and deploy MS Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista desktop computers. Setup and analyze a variety of information utilities and application programs.

Design IT architectures and protections strategies that support customer's business growth.

Service and administer Microsoft Outlook client with back-end Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Office applications, telephony, and fast Internet access.

Plan and deploy upgrades to MS Windows 7, XP and Vista, Microsoft Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2003 Server, Active Directory, and MS Exchange 2007 and 2003 Server.

Optimize system availability and performance through fault-tolerant configuration, efficient system infrastructure, and automated network monitoring.

Create on-going records of the environment as it grows.

Identify and procure additional server and communications equipment and/or software to support expansion and additional functions.


Qualifications/
Schooling

Required Work Background
MCSE, strong analysis and problem isolation ability and people skills, and the knowledge to implement quick workarounds to network issues.

Ability to troubleshoot application issues such as workstation application integration issues, server problems, data service problems, and connectivity problems.

Willingness to exchange knowledge with customers and coworkers and to escalate issues to additional engineers when appropriate.

Ability to work effectively in a virtual office environment, delivering reliable follow-through and using remote access and wireless communications. Familiarity with automated network monitoring tools and remote repair techniques.

Physical Requirements
Ability to respond to off-hour network crises while on extended call.

Capability to pick up, move, and reposition all components of client desktops, network hardware, printers and accessories.
