Primary Activities

Work with a range of small businesses to support computer networks based on Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2003 Server, MS Exchange 2007 and 2003 Server, and .NET servers. Cooperate extensively with client's IT group or deliver comprehensive IT outsourcing. Key fields of mastery include Exchange-based email, Active Directory design, Protection, network monitoring, and system infrastructure.

President of Progent, Progent MCSEs and services sales managers, as well as CIO and top management of small and midsize firm clients in the San Francisco Bay Area, and key areas across the U.S.


Duties

Maintain and repair Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2003 Server-powered computer environments. Operate on-site and remotely to analyze and resolve both emergency and chronic issues concerning availability, protection, performance, accessibility, and overall functionality.

Deploy, configure and validate Microsoft Windows-powered program servers and .NET servers. Set up and deploy Windows 7, Microsoft Windows XP, and MS Windows Vista workstation environments. Configure and analyze a variety of network services and applications.

Plan IT architectures and protections strategies that promote customer's company growth.

Support and manage Microsoft Outlook client with backoffice MS Exchange Server, MS Office applications, telephony, and high-speed Internet access.

Design and deploy migrations to Windows 7, XP and Vista, Windows Server 2008 and 2003, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and 2003.

Maximize network availability and capacity via zero-downtime topology, smart network architecture, and proactive server monitoring.

Produce up-to-date records of the network as it expands.

Specify and order new processor and networking equipment and/or programs to accommodate growth and additional applications.


Qualifications/
Education

Minimum Work Background
Microsoft Certified System Engineer, proven troubleshooting and diagnostic ability and communications skills, and the ability to implement quick workarounds to network problems.

Ability to troubleshoot software issues such as desktop program integration issues, server issues, data service issues, and connectivity problems.

Open to trade information with customers and colleagues and to escalate issues to additional engineers when necessary.

Must be able to to operate efficiently in a virtual office infrastructure, delivering reliable follow-through and using offsite access and wireless communications. Familiarity with remote server monitoring software and remote analysis techniques.

Physical Requirements
Availability to respond to off-hour technical emergencies when on emergency station.

Ability to lift, move, and rearrange all components of client workstations, network appliances, printers and accessories.
