Essential Activities

Work with a variety of small and midsize companies to maintain IT networks powered by Microsoft Windows 7, MS Windows Vista, Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, MS Exchange Server 2007 and 2003, and .NET technology. Cooperate extensively with customer's IT staff or deliver full-service IT outsourcing. Required fields of mastery include Exchange and Outlook, Active Directory, security, server monitoring, and system infrastructure.

Works Closely with:
President of Progent, Progent Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers and technical sales staff, as well as Chief Information Officers and senior executives of small business clients in Northern California, and key cities across the U.S.


Responsibilities

Maintain and troubleshoot Windows 2008 or 2003 Server-powered computer networks. Operate on-site and remotely to analyze and fix both emergency and chronic issues concerning reliability, protection, capacity, accessibility, and overall functionality.

Install, setup and validate Microsoft Windows-powered program hosts and .NET servers. Set up and deploy MS Windows 7, Microsoft Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows Vista workstation environments. Configure and evaluate a variety of network utilities and application programs.

Create IT infrastructures and protections policies that promote customer's company growth.

Support and manage Microsoft Outlook with backoffice MS Exchange Server, Microsoft Office applications, telephony, and fast Internet connection.

Design and implement migrations to Microsoft Windows 7, XP and Vista, Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2003 Server, Active Directory, and Exchange 2007 Server and 2003 Server.

Optimize network uptime and throughput through non-stop configuration, smart network infrastructure, and proactive network monitoring.

Produce accurate documentation of the environment as it expands.

Specify and order additional server and communications hardware and/or programs to accommodate expansion and new applications.


Qualifications/
Schooling

Required Professional Experience
MCSE, strong analysis and diagnostic ability and people skills, and the ability to come up with quick patches to network problems.

Understand how to to troubleshoot software issues such as desktop program compatibility issues, server trouble, data service problems, and network access issues.

Willingness to trade information with customers and colleagues and to escalate problems to Progent specialists when appropriate.

Must be able to to work efficiently in a virtual office environment, delivering consistent follow-through and utilizing online access and mobile technology. Familiarity with remote server monitoring software and remote repair techniques.

Physical Requirements
Ability to respond to off-hour technical emergencies when on extended station.

Ability to lift, carry, and reposition all components of user workstations, network hardware, and peripherals.
