Main Functions

Work with a range of small and midsize companies to support computer networks powered by Windows 7, MS Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2003 Server, MS Exchange 2007 and 2003 Server, and .NET servers. Cooperate extensively with client's network support group or deliver full-service IT outsourcing. Required fields of mastery include Exchange-based email, Active Directory, security, network monitoring, and network architecture.

CEO of Progent, Progent MCSEs and technical sales managers, as well as Chief Information Officers and senior management of small firm customers in Northern California, and key areas across the United States


Responsibilities

Support and troubleshoot MS Windows Server 2008 and 2003-powered computer systems. Work in person and offsite to diagnose and fix both urgent and chronic issues concerning reliability, security, throughput, connectivity, and overall functionality.

Deploy, configure and integrate MS Windows-based program servers and Microsoft .NET servers. Configure and deploy Microsoft Windows 7, Windows XP, and MS Windows Vista desktop environments. Setup and analyze a variety of information services and applications.

Plan IT architectures and security strategies that promote customer's business goals.

Support and manage MS Outlook client with backoffice Exchange Server, Microsoft Office applications, telephony, and broadband Internet access.

Design and deploy migrations to MS Windows 7, XP and Vista, MS Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, Active Directory, and Exchange Server 2007 and 2003.

Optimize network reliability and capacity via fault-tolerant topology, efficient system architecture, and proactive network monitoring.

Create on-going records of the network as it grows.

Specify and procure new processor and communications hardware and/or software to support growth and additional applications.


Qualifications/
Education

Required Work Background
MCSE, strong analysis and diagnostic skills and interpersonal skills, and the ability to come up with quick workarounds to technical issues.

Ability to resolve application issues including desktop program compatibility issues, host system problems, data service difficulties, and connectivity issues.

Open to exchange knowledge with clients and colleagues and to escalate problems to Progent specialists when necessary.

Ability to work efficiently in a virtual office infrastructure, providing reliable follow-through and utilizing online access and wireless communications. Familiarity with remote server monitoring tools and remote troubleshooting methodologies.

Physical Requirements
Ability to react to off-hour technical crises while on extended call.

Capability to lift, move, and rearrange all parts of user workstations, network hardware, printers and accessories.
