Main Functions

Assist a range of small companies to support computer environments powered by MS Windows 7, Windows Vista, MS Windows XP, MS Windows Server 2008 and 2003, MS Exchange 2007 Server and 2003 Server, and Microsoft's .NET platform. Cooperate closely with customer's network support group or deliver full-service IT outsourced services. Key fields of mastery include Exchange-based email, Active Directory, Protection, network monitoring, and network infrastructure.

Manager of Client Support

Cooperates Extensively with:
President of Progent, Progent Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers and technical sales managers, as well as CIO and senior management of small and midsize firm clients in the San Francisco Bay Area, and select areas throughout the United States


Maintain and repair Microsoft Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2003 Server-powered computer environments. Work in person and remotely to diagnose and fix both emergency and chronic issues concerning availability, security, throughput, accessibility, and overall functionality.

Deploy, configure and integrate Microsoft Windows-powered application hosts and MS .NET servers. Set up and deploy MS Windows 7, MS Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows Vista workstation computers. Configure and analyze a variety of information utilities and application programs.

Plan IT architectures and protections policies that promote client's business goals.

Service and administer Microsoft Outlook client with back-end MS Exchange Server, MS Office applications, phone communications, and broadband Internet connection.

Design and implement upgrades to Windows 7, XP and Vista, MS Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and 2003.

Optimize network availability and capacity through fault-tolerant configuration, efficient system infrastructure, and proactive server monitoring.

Produce accurate documentation of the environment as it expands.

Specify and order additional server and networking hardware and/or programs to support expansion and additional functions.


Minimum Work Experience
Microsoft Certified System Engineer, strong analysis and problem isolation skills and interpersonal skills, and the ability to implement temporary patches to technical problems.

Understand how to to resolve software problems including workstation program compatibility issues, host system problems, data service problems, and connectivity issues.

Willingness to exchange information with clients and colleagues and to escalate issues to additional engineers when appropriate.

Ability to work effectively in a virtual office environment, providing reliable follow-up and utilizing online access and wireless communications. Experience with automated server monitoring utilities and remote troubleshooting methodologies.

Physical Requirements
Ability to respond to off-hour network emergencies while on emergency call.

Ability to lift, move, and rearrange all components of user workstations, network hardware, and accessories.
