Essential Functions

Assist a variety of small companies to maintain computer networks powered by Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and 2003, and Microsoft's .NET platform. Work closely with customer's IT group or deliver full-service IT outsourcing. Key fields of expertise include Exchange-based email, Active Directory design, Protection, network monitoring, and system infrastructure.

Cooperates Closely with:
President of Progent, Progent Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers and services sales managers, as well as CIO and top executives of small firm clients in the San Francisco Bay Area, and key cities throughout the U.S.


Responsibilities

Maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2003-based computer environments. Operate in person and offsite to analyze and resolve both emergency and lingering issues concerning reliability, protection, capacity, connectivity, and overall functionality.

Deploy, setup and integrate Windows-based program servers and .NET servers. Set up and integrate Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows Vista workstation computers. Setup and evaluate various information services and applications.

Plan information technology architectures and security policies that promote client's business growth.

Support and administer Microsoft Outlook with backoffice MS Exchange Server, Microsoft Office suite, telephony, and high-speed Internet connection.

Plan and implement migrations to Windows 7, XP and Vista, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003, Active Directory, and MS Exchange 2007 Server and 2003 Server.

Maximize system uptime and performance through zero-downtime topology, efficient network architecture, and automated network monitoring.

Create on-going records of the network as it expands.

Specify and order new processor and communications hardware and/or software to accommodate expansion and new functions.


Qualifications/
Education

Required Professional Background
Microsoft Certified System Engineer, proven troubleshooting and problem isolation ability and interpersonal skills, and the ability to come up with quick workarounds to technical issues.

Ability to resolve software problems such as PC program integration issues, host system trouble, data service problems, and network access issues.

Open to trade knowledge with customers and colleagues and to escalate issues to Progent specialists when necessary.

Must be able to to work efficiently in a virtual office environment, providing reliable follow-through and using online connectivity and wireless devices. Familiarity with automated network monitoring programs and remote analysis methodologies.

Physical Requirements
Ability to react to off-hour technical emergencies when on emergency call.

Capability to lift, carry, and rearrange all components of user workstations, network hardware, and accessories.
