Essential Activities

Work with a range of small and midsize companies to maintain information environments based on Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista, MS Windows XP, Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, MS Exchange Server 2007 and 2003, and Microsoft's .NET technology. Cooperate extensively with client's IT group or provide full-service IS outsourcing. Key fields of mastery include Exchange and Outlook, Active Directory design, Protection, server monitoring, and system infrastructure.

Manager of Client Support

Cooperates Extensively with:
President of Progent, Progent MCSEs and technical sales managers, as well as CIO and senior executives of small and midsize business clients in the San Francisco Bay Area, and select cities throughout the U.S.


Support and troubleshoot Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2003 Server-based computer systems. Work on-site and offsite to analyze and resolve both emergency and chronic problems concerning uptime, protection, throughput, accessibility, and general capability.

Install, configure and validate Windows-powered program servers and Microsoft .NET servers. Set up and deploy Windows 7, Microsoft Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows Vista workstation computers. Setup and analyze a variety of IT utilities and application programs.

Plan IT architectures and security policies that promote client's company growth.

Service and manage Microsoft Outlook with back-end MS Exchange Server, Microsoft Office suite, phone communications, and high-speed Internet access.

Plan and deploy migrations to Microsoft Windows 7, XP and Vista, Windows Server 2008 and 2003, Active Directory, and MS Exchange 2007 and 2003 Server.

Optimize system reliability and throughput through non-stop configuration, efficient system architecture, and automated network monitoring.

Create up-to-date documentation of the environment as it expands.

Specify and procure additional server and networking equipment and/or programs to accommodate growth and new functions.


Minimum Professional Experience
MCSE, proven troubleshooting and problem isolation skills and communications skills, and the ability to implement temporary workarounds to network problems.

Ability to resolve software problems including PC application configuration issues, host system problems, data service difficulties, and network access issues.

Open to trade information with customers and colleagues and to escalate issues to additional engineers when necessary.

Ability to work effectively in a virtual office environment, delivering reliable follow-up and utilizing online connectivity and wireless devices. Familiarity with remote server monitoring software and remote troubleshooting methodologies.

Physical Capability
Availability to respond to off-hour technical crises when on extended station.

Capability to pick up, carry, and reposition all components of client workstations, network hardware, and peripherals.
