Essential Activities

Assist a variety of small and midsize companies to maintain information systems powered by Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server and 2003 Server, and Microsoft's .NET platform. Cooperate extensively with customer's network support group or provide comprehensive IT outsourced services. Required areas of expertise include Exchange-based email, Active Directory, Protection, network monitoring, and system infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Maintain and troubleshoot Windows 2008 or 2003 Server-based computer networks. Work on-site and remotely to analyze and fix both emergency and chronic problems related to uptime, security, capacity, accessibility, and overall functionality.

Deploy, configure and integrate Windows-powered application hosts and MS .NET servers. Configure and deploy Microsoft Windows 7, MS Windows XP, and Windows Vista desktop environments. Configure and evaluate various information utilities and applications.

Create IT infrastructures and security policies that promote customer's business goals.

Service and administer MS Outlook client with backoffice Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Office applications, phone communications, and broadband Internet access.

Plan and implement upgrades to MS Windows 7, XP and Vista, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2003, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and 2003.

Maximize system reliability and capacity via fault-tolerant topology, efficient system infrastructure, and automated server monitoring.

Produce on-going records of the environment as it grows.

Identify and order additional processor and communications equipment and/or software to support growth and additional applications.


Qualifications/
Education

Minimum Work Experience
Microsoft Certified System Engineer, strong troubleshooting and problem isolation ability and people skills, and the ability to come up with temporary workarounds to technical issues.

Ability to resolve software problems including PC application integration issues, host system issues, data service problems, and network access problems.

Willingness to exchange information with clients and coworkers and to escalate issues to Progent specialists when appropriate.

Ability to operate efficiently in a virtual office infrastructure, providing reliable follow-through and utilizing online access and wireless technology. Familiarity with automated server monitoring software and remote repair techniques.

Physical Requirements
Ability to respond to off-hour technical crises when on emergency call.

Ability to pick up, move, and reposition all components of user workstations, network hardware, and accessories.
