Main Functions

Assist a range of small and midsize firms to maintain information environments powered by Microsoft Windows 7, MS Windows Vista, MS Windows XP, MS Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2003 Server, MS Exchange 2007 Server and 2003 Server, and .NET technology. Cooperate extensively with customer's IS group or provide full-service IT outsourcing. Required areas of expertise include Exchange-based email, Active Directory, security, server monitoring, and system infrastructure.

President of Progent, Progent Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers and services sales staff, as well as Chief Information Officers and senior management of small and midsize firm clients in Northern California, and key cities throughout the U.S.


Duties

Support and repair MS Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003-based computer networks. Work in person and offsite to diagnose and resolve both urgent and chronic issues related to uptime, security, throughput, accessibility, and overall functionality.

Install, setup and validate Microsoft Windows-powered program servers and Microsoft .NET servers. Set up and deploy Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista desktop computers. Configure and evaluate a variety of network services and applications.

Create information technology architectures and security strategies that support customer's business growth.

Support and manage Microsoft Outlook with back-end Microsoft Exchange Server, MS Office suite, phone communications, and broadband Internet connection.

Design and implement upgrades to Windows 7, XP and Vista, Windows Server 2008 and 2003, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server and 2003 Server.

Optimize system uptime and capacity via fault-tolerant configuration, efficient system infrastructure, and automated network monitoring.

Produce on-going records of the environment as it grows.

Specify and procure additional server and communications equipment and/or software to accommodate expansion and additional functions.


Experience/
Education

Required Professional Experience
MCSE, strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills and interpersonal skills, and the knowledge to implement temporary patches to technical issues.

Understand how to to troubleshoot application issues including PC program integration issues, host system problems, data service issues, and network access issues.

Willingness to trade information with clients and colleagues and to escalate problems to Progent specialists when appropriate.

Must be able to to work efficiently in a virtual office environment, delivering consistent follow-through and using online access and mobile communications. Experience with automated network monitoring programs and remote troubleshooting methodologies.

Physical Capability
Ability to react to off-hour network crises when on extended call.

Capability to lift, carry, and rearrange all parts of user workstations, network appliances, and peripherals.
