Primary Functions

Help a range of small companies to maintain information networks based on MS Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista, MS Windows XP, MS Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange 2007 and 2003 Server, and Microsoft's .NET technology. Cooperate closely with client's IS group or deliver comprehensive IT outsourced services. Key fields of mastery include Exchange-based email, Active Directory, security, server monitoring, and system architecture.

Works Closely with:
Chief Executive of Progent, Progent Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers and services sales staff, plus CIO and senior executives of small and midsize business customers in Northern California, and select cities across the United States


Support and troubleshoot MS Windows Server 2008 and 2003-powered IT environments. Work on-site and offsite to analyze and resolve both emergency and lingering problems concerning availability, protection, performance, accessibility, and general capability.

Deploy, setup and validate MS Windows-powered program hosts and .NET servers. Set up and integrate Windows 7, Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows Vista workstation environments. Configure and analyze a variety of network services and applications.

Design information technology infrastructures and protections strategies that promote client's business goals.

Service and manage Microsoft Outlook with backoffice Exchange Server, Microsoft Office suite, telephony, and high-speed Internet access.

Plan and implement migrations to Microsoft Windows 7, XP and Vista, MS Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and 2003.

Optimize network availability and throughput through non-stop topology, efficient system infrastructure, and proactive network monitoring.

Create accurate documentation of the network as it expands.

Specify and procure new processor and networking equipment and/or software to support expansion and additional functions.


Minimum Professional Experience
Microsoft Certified System Engineer, proven troubleshooting and problem isolation ability and interpersonal skills, and the knowledge to come up with temporary workarounds to technical problems.

Ability to troubleshoot software issues such as workstation program configuration issues, server issues, data service problems, and network access issues.

Willingness to exchange information with clients and coworkers and to escalate problems to Progent specialists when appropriate.

Must be able to to work effectively in a virtual office infrastructure, providing consistent follow-through and utilizing remote access and mobile devices. Experience with remote server monitoring utilities and remote troubleshooting methodologies.

Physical Requirements
Availability to react to off-hour technical emergencies while on emergency station.

Ability to pick up, move, and reposition all components of user workstations, network appliances, and accessories.
