Main Activities
Work with a variety of small firms to support information environments powered by MS Windows Vista, MS Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server, and Microsoft's .NET platform. Cooperate closely with client's IS staff or deliver full-service IS outsourcing. Key areas of mastery include Exchange and Outlook, Active Directory design, security, server monitoring, and system architecture.

President of Progent, Progent Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers and technical sales staff, as well as Chief Information Officers and top management of small firm clients in Northern California, and select cities throughout the U.S.
Duties
Support and troubleshoot MS Windows 2003 Server-powered computer networks. Operate on-site and offsite to diagnose and resolve both emergency and chronic issues related to uptime, security, performance, accessibility, and general capability.
Install, setup and integrate Windows-powered program hosts and Microsoft .NET servers. Configure and integrate Windows 2K, Microsoft Windows XP, and MS Windows Vista workstation computers. Configure and analyze various information services and application programs.
Plan network infrastructures and security policies that promote customer's company growth.
Support and manage Microsoft Outlook client with back-end Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Office applications, phone communications, and broadband Internet connection.
Plan and implement upgrades to Microsoft Windows XP and MS Windows Server 2003, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server.
Optimize network reliability and capacity via non-stop topology, efficient network architecture, and proactive server monitoring.
Produce up-to-date documentation of the network as it evolves.
Identify and order additional server and communications hardware and/or software to support expansion and additional functions.
Experience/
Education
Required Work Background
MCSE, proven analysis and diagnostic ability and interpersonal skills, and the experience to come up with temporary workarounds to network problems.
Ability to resolve software issues such as workstation program compatibility issues, host system trouble, data service difficulties, and connectivity issues.
Open to trade information with clients and colleagues and to escalate issues to Progent specialists when appropriate.
Ability to operate effectively in a virtual office environment, delivering consistent follow-through and using offsite access and wireless technology. Familiarity with automated server monitoring software and remote troubleshooting techniques.
Physical Capability
Ability to react to off-hour technical emergencies when on emergency call.
Capability to lift, carry, and rearrange all components of client workstations, network appliances, printers and accessories.
