Primary Functions

Help a variety of small and midsize firms to support IT environments based on Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, MS Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003, MS Exchange 2007 and 2003 Server, and .NET platform. Cooperate extensively with customer's IT group or provide full-service IS outsourced services. Required areas of mastery include Exchange and Outlook, Active Directory, security, network monitoring, and system infrastructure.

Interacts Extensively with:
President of Progent, Progent MCSEs and services sales managers, as well as Chief Information Officers and top management of small firm customers in Northern California, and key areas throughout the United States


Duties

Support and troubleshoot Windows Server 2008 and 2003-powered computer networks. Operate in person and offsite to analyze and resolve both emergency and lingering problems concerning uptime, security, throughput, accessibility, and overall functionality.

Install, configure and integrate Windows-powered application hosts and .NET servers. Configure and integrate Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista desktop environments. Setup and evaluate various information services and applications.

Create IT architectures and protections strategies that support client's company growth.

Support and administer MS Outlook client with back-end Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Office suite, phone communications, and broadband Internet connection.

Design and deploy upgrades to Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, MS Windows Server 2008 and 2003, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server and 2003 Server.

Maximize network availability and performance through fault-tolerant topology, efficient network infrastructure, and automated network monitoring.

Create on-going documentation of the network as it expands.

Identify and procure additional server and networking hardware and/or programs to support expansion and additional applications.


Qualifications/
Education

Required Professional Experience
MCSE, strong analysis and problem isolation ability and communications skills, and the experience to implement quick workarounds to network problems.

Understand how to to resolve application problems including PC program configuration issues, server problems, data service issues, and network access issues.

Open to exchange knowledge with clients and colleagues and to escalate problems to Progent specialists when appropriate.

Must be able to to operate efficiently in a virtual office environment, providing consistent follow-through and using offsite connectivity and wireless communications. Experience with remote server monitoring programs and remote repair techniques.

Physical Requirements
Availability to react to off-hour network crises while on emergency call.

Ability to pick up, carry, and reposition all components of client workstations, network appliances, printers and accessories.
