Progent provided a wireless networking solution that allowed a school to increase efficiency and avoid the ongoing costs of a dedicated link. Progent proposed a Proxim Tsunami high-speed wireless bridge. The low-cost building-to-building Proxim bridge is intended for interfacing separate locations up to 2.5 miles apart and can extend to even greater ranges. This wireless alternative provided better performance and reliability than simply amplifying the 802.11b network, and because it uses the 5.8Ghz band it offered protection against local interference.
