Primary Functions

Help a range of small firms to support IT networks based on MS Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Server 2008 and 2003, MS Exchange Server 2007 and 2003, and Microsoft's .NET technology. Work extensively with customer's IS staff or deliver comprehensive IT outsourcing. Key areas of expertise include Exchange and Outlook, Active Directory design, security, network monitoring, and network infrastructure.

Chief Executive of Progent, Progent MCSEs and services sales staff, as well as CIO and top management of small and midsize company customers in the San Francisco Bay Area, and select cities across the United States


Responsibilities

Support and troubleshoot MS Windows 2008 or 2003 Server-based computer environments. Work in person and offsite to analyze and resolve both urgent and chronic problems related to availability, security, throughput, accessibility, and general capability.

Deploy, configure and validate Microsoft Windows-powered application hosts and .NET servers. Configure and integrate Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista workstation environments. Configure and evaluate various IT services and application programs.

Create network architectures and security policies that promote client's business goals.

Support and manage Microsoft Outlook client with backoffice Exchange Server, MS Office applications, telephony, and fast Internet access.

Plan and deploy upgrades to MS Windows 7, XP and Vista, Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server and 2003 Server.

Maximize system reliability and performance through non-stop configuration, efficient system architecture, and automated server monitoring.

Produce accurate documentation of the environment as it expands.

Specify and procure additional processor and communications hardware and/or software to accommodate growth and new functions.


Qualifications/
Education

Required Professional Experience
Microsoft Certified System Engineer, strong analysis and problem isolation ability and people skills, and the experience to come up with temporary workarounds to network issues.

Ability to troubleshoot software problems such as PC program integration issues, server problems, data service issues, and connectivity problems.

Willingness to exchange information with clients and colleagues and to escalate problems to Progent specialists when appropriate.

Ability to work effectively in a virtual office infrastructure, delivering reliable follow-up and using remote connectivity and wireless devices. Experience with remote network monitoring software and remote troubleshooting methodologies.

Physical Requirements
Ability to respond to off-hour network crises when on extended call.

Capability to lift, carry, and reposition all components of client workstations, network hardware, and accessories.
