Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to help Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's customer locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-based desktop and notebook systems and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer end users in helping to find and resolve app and operating system problems that impact user productivity
  • Install, configure and verify a variety of applications on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and resolve both urgent and chronic problems that impact the reliability, protection, speed, connectivity, and general capability of desktops, notebooks, printers and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, upgrades, and exchanges of desktops, laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and remediation of workstations and notebooks and associated hardware
  • Stay up-to-date with an expert knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC administration new program setup, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation skill, knowledge to install short-term patches to solve network problems and escalate support when necessary
  • In-depth background providing software assistance to small companies for all Microsoft Windows OS, Office Suite, and Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven commitment to facilitating continuous productivity
  • Operate without supervision and display marked quality of ownership and drive
