Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's client locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Required Expertise

Key Areas of Expertise
  • Exchange-based Outlook email client
  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, PC desktop, notebook and peripheral integration, remote connectivity for users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network administration, including user maintenance

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-based workstation and laptop computer systems and others as required.
  • Work with computer users in helping to find and fix application and operating system issues that hinder user productivity
  • Deploy, configure and test a variety of popular apps on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and remediate both emergency and persistent problems that impact the stability, security, speed, connectivity, and general functionality of workstations, laptops, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, updates, and swaps of PCs, laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Provide the timely analysis and remediation of PCs and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain updated with an expert knowledge of desktop and notebook computing applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC administration new software setup, computer and peripheral integration, trouble analysis and resolution)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, talent to install temporary patches to resolve network problems and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad experience delivering software help to small companies for all Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 apps including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Work without supervision and show marked characteristics of ownership and motivation
