Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to assist Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and resolve problems with all versions of Microsoft Windows-powered workstation and laptop computers and others as needed.
  • Work with computer users in helping to find and fix application and operating system problems that impact user productivity
  • Install, configure and test a variety of applications on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and remediate both emergency and chronic problems that reduce the stability, protection, speed, accessibility, and overall functionality of desktops, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and perform other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of PCs, laptop computers and related equipment
  • Assure the timely analysis and repair of workstations and notebooks and associated hardware
  • Remain updated with an expert knowledge of PC and laptop applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new software setup, computer and peripheral integration, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, knowledge to implement short-term patches to resolve computer problems and escalate support services when necessary
  • Broad experience providing software assistance to small companies for all Windows OS, Office Suite, and Office 365 programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven dedication to enabling continuous productivity
  • Operate without supervision and display marked characteristics of ownership and motivation
