Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to assist Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's customer premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

  • Exchange-based Outlook email client
  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, PC desktop, laptop and peripheral integration, offsite access for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, such as user maintenance

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Microsoft Windows-based PC and notebook computers and others as required.
  • Work with computer users in assisting to identify and resolve application and OS issues that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, configure and verify a variety of applications on user PCs
  • Operate on-site to find and remediate both urgent and chronic issues that impact the stability, protection, speed, accessibility, and general functionality of workstations, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, updates, and swaps of workstations, notebooks and related hardware
  • Provide the prompt analysis and repair of workstations and laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with advanced knowledge of desktop and notebook computing applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and mitigation)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation ability, talent to implement short-term patches to resolve network issues and escalate support when necessary
  • In-depth background providing software help to small organizations for all Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Office 365 programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to enabling continuous operations
  • Work independently and show marked characteristics of responsibility and drive
