Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our client locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and troubleshoot issues with all versions of Windows-powered PC and notebook computer systems and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer end users in assisting to identify and fix application and operating system issues that disrupt user productivity
  • Install, configure and verify a variety of software programs on user workstations
  • Work on-site to find and remediate both emergency and persistent problems that reduce the reliability, security, speed, accessibility, and overall capability of workstations, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user hardware and help with other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of desktops, notebooks and related hardware
  • Assure the timely diagnosis and repair of PCs and laptop computers and related hardware
  • Remain current with advanced knowledge of workstation and notebook computing applications and use of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC admin new software setup, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, talent to implement temporary patches to solve computer issues and escalate support services when necessary
  • Broad background delivering software help to small companies for all Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Office 365 programs such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to facilitating continuous operations
  • Work without supervision and display marked quality of responsibility and motivation
