Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on current Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

  • Microsoft Exchange-based Outlook email client
  • Microsoft software products, PC desktop, laptop and peripheral setup, remote access for users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network administration, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and troubleshoot problems with all versions of Windows-powered workstation and laptop computers and others as required.
  • Work with computer end users in assisting to find and resolve application and operating system problems that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and test a variety of popular apps on user PCs
  • Operate on-site to diagnose and resolve both urgent and persistent problems that reduce the reliability, security, performance, accessibility, and general functionality of desktops, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user equipment and perform other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of workstations, laptop computers and related equipment
  • Assure the timely analysis and repair of desktops and laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Stay up-to-date with an expert knowledge of workstation and notebook applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation admin new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, knowledge to implement short-term patches to solve computer issues and escalate support services when necessary
  • Broad background delivering software help to small companies for all Microsoft Windows OS, Office Suite, and Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven commitment to facilitating continuous productivity
  • Work independently and display distinct characteristics of ownership and drive
