Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's customer locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-based desktop and notebook computers and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer end users in helping to find and fix app and operating system problems that hinder user productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a variety of popular apps on user workstations
  • Work on-site to diagnose and fix both emergency and chronic problems that affect the reliability, security, speed, accessibility, and general functionality of desktops, notebooks, printers and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user hardware and perform other deployments, upgrades, and exchanges of PCs, notebooks and related equipment
  • Assure the timely diagnosis and remediation of desktops and laptop computers and related hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with advanced knowledge of workstation and notebook applications and use of connectivity infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new program setup, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, talent to implement temporary patches to solve network problems and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth background delivering software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Operate independently and display distinct quality of responsibility and drive
