Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's customer locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Windows-based desktop and notebook computer systems and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer end users in helping to identify and resolve application and operating system issues that disrupt user productivity
  • Install, integrate and test a range of software programs on user PCs
  • Operate on-site to diagnose and fix both emergency and chronic problems that reduce the reliability, protection, speed, connectivity, and general capability of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user hardware and perform other installations, updates, and swaps of workstations, notebooks and related equipment
  • Provide the prompt diagnosis and remediation of PCs and laptop computers and related equipment
  • Stay up-to-date with an expert knowledge of workstation and laptop computing applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and mitigation)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, talent to install short-term patches to resolve network problems and escalate support when required
  • In-depth experience delivering software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 apps including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated dedication to facilitating continuous operations
  • Work independently and show marked quality of responsibility and motivation
