Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Primary Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and resolve issues with all versions of Microsoft Windows-powered desktop and notebook computer systems and others as required.
  • Work directly with computer end users in assisting to identify and fix app and operating system problems that disrupt productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a range of software programs on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to diagnose and remediate both emergency and persistent issues that impact the stability, security, performance, accessibility, and general capability of workstations, laptops, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Install new end-user hardware and help with other deployments, upgrades, and exchanges of PCs, notebooks and associated hardware
  • Assure the prompt analysis and repair of desktops and laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Stay updated with an expert knowledge of PC and laptop computing applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation ability, knowledge to install temporary patches to resolve computer issues and escalate support when required
  • Broad background delivering software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows OS, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven commitment to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Operate independently and show distinct characteristics of ownership and motivation
