Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our client locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and resolve issues with all versions of Windows-powered PC and laptop computers and others as needed.
  • Work directly with computer users in assisting to identify and fix app and operating system issues that disrupt productivity
  • Install, configure and verify a range of applications on user workstations
  • Work on-site to diagnose and fix both urgent and persistent issues that reduce the reliability, security, performance, connectivity, and general functionality of desktops, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and perform other installations, updates, and swaps of desktops, laptop computers and related hardware
  • Provide the prompt analysis and repair of desktops and laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Stay up-to-date with advanced knowledge of desktop and laptop applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, knowledge to implement temporary patches to solve network problems and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad background delivering software assistance to small companies for all Windows OS, Office Suite, and Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating continuous operations
  • Work without supervision and display marked characteristics of responsibility and motivation
