Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Primary Areas of Expertise
  • Microsoft Exchange-based Outlook email client
  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, PC desktop, notebook and peripheral setup, remote connectivity for users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network administration, including user maintenance

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered PC and laptop systems and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer users in helping to find and resolve app and operating system issues that impact user productivity
  • Install, configure and test a range of popular apps on user PCs
  • Work on-premises to find and fix both urgent and chronic issues that impact the reliability, security, performance, connectivity, and general capability of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and perform other deployments, updates, and exchanges of workstations, laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and repair of desktops and notebooks and related equipment
  • Stay updated with advanced knowledge of desktop and notebook computing applications and use of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC admin new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, talent to implement short-term patches to solve computer problems and escalate support when required
  • Broad experience providing software help to small organizations for all Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Operate independently and display marked quality of ownership and drive
