Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work extensively with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Primary Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve problems with all releases of Windows-powered PC and notebook computers and others as needed.
  • Work with computer end users in assisting to find and resolve app and OS issues that disrupt productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a range of popular apps on user workstations
  • Work on-site to find and resolve both emergency and chronic problems that affect the reliability, protection, speed, accessibility, and general capability of workstations, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and perform other installations, updates, and exchanges of desktops, notebooks and associated hardware
  • Provide the prompt analysis and repair of workstations and notebooks and related hardware
  • Stay current with an expert knowledge of PC and notebook applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation ability, talent to install temporary patches to resolve computer issues and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth experience delivering software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Work independently and show distinct characteristics of ownership and drive
