Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's customer premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and resolve issues with all releases of Windows-based desktop and notebook computer systems and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer users in assisting to find and fix app and operating system problems that hinder user productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and verify a variety of software programs on user workstations
  • Work on-premises to diagnose and resolve both urgent and chronic issues that reduce the stability, protection, performance, accessibility, and general capability of desktops, notebooks, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Install new end-user equipment and perform other installations, updates, and swaps of desktops, notebooks and related equipment
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and remediation of workstations and notebooks and associated hardware
  • Remain updated with advanced knowledge of desktop and laptop computing applications and utilization of WAN technologies including the Internet


Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, knowledge to implement temporary patches to resolve computer problems and escalate support when required
  • Broad experience providing software help to small organizations for all Windows OS, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 programs including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Work independently and show distinct quality of responsibility and motivation
