Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Required Areas of Expertise
  • Exchange-based Outlook email
  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, workstation, laptop and peripheral integration, remote access for users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

  • Support, diagnose and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Windows-powered desktop and notebook systems and others as required.
  • Work with computer users in assisting to identify and fix app and OS issues that hinder productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a range of popular apps on user PCs
  • Work on-site to find and resolve both emergency and persistent issues that reduce the stability, protection, performance, accessibility, and general capability of workstations, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, updates, and swaps of workstations, laptop computers and related equipment
  • Assure the prompt analysis and repair of workstations and notebooks and related equipment
  • Stay updated with advanced knowledge of PC and laptop computing applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet


Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC administration new software setup, computer and peripheral integration, trouble analysis and mitigation)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, knowledge to implement temporary patches to solve computer issues and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth background delivering software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to enabling continuous productivity
  • Operate without supervision and show marked quality of ownership and motivation
