Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to assist Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Microsoft Windows-based PC and laptop computers and others as required.
  • Work with computer end users in assisting to identify and fix application and OS problems that hinder user productivity
  • Deploy, configure and verify a variety of software programs on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to find and fix both emergency and chronic problems that impact the reliability, protection, speed, accessibility, and general capability of desktops, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user equipment and perform other deployments, updates, and swaps of desktops, notebooks and associated equipment
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and repair of desktops and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with an expert knowledge of workstation and notebook applications and utilization of connectivity infrastructure including the Internet


Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, talent to implement temporary patches to resolve network issues and escalate support services when necessary
  • Broad experience providing software help to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to enabling continuous operations
  • Operate without supervision and show marked characteristics of ownership and motivation
