Main Activities

Assist a range of small companies to maintain IT networks powered by MS Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2003, MS Exchange Server 2007 and 2003, and Microsoft's .NET servers. Cooperate closely with customer's IS group or deliver comprehensive IS outsourced services. Required areas of mastery include Exchange and Outlook, Active Directory design, Protection, server monitoring, and system infrastructure.

CEO of Progent, Progent Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers and services sales managers, as well as Chief Information Officers and top management of small firm customers in Northern California, and key cities throughout the United States


Duties

Maintain and repair Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003-based IT systems. Work on-site and remotely to diagnose and resolve both emergency and lingering issues related to reliability, security, throughput, connectivity, and general functionality.

Install, configure and validate Windows-based program servers and .NET servers. Set up and integrate Microsoft Windows 2K, Microsoft Windows XP, and Windows Vista workstation environments. Configure and evaluate various IT services and applications.

Create IT infrastructures and protections strategies that support client's company growth.

Service and administer MS Outlook client with back-end Microsoft Exchange Server, MS Office suite, phone communications, and high-speed Internet connection.

Plan and implement migrations to Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003, Active Directory, and MS Exchange Server 2007 and 2003.

Maximize system availability and capacity via fault-tolerant configuration, smart system infrastructure, and proactive network monitoring.

Produce up-to-date documentation of the environment as it evolves.

Identify and order additional server and communications hardware and/or programs to accommodate expansion and new applications.


Qualifications/
Education

Required Professional Background
Microsoft Certified System Engineer, proven analysis and problem isolation ability and people skills, and the experience to come up with temporary patches to network problems.

Understand how to to resolve software problems including desktop program compatibility issues, server trouble, data service problems, and connectivity issues.

Willingness to exchange knowledge with customers and coworkers and to escalate problems to additional engineers when necessary.

Must be able to to work efficiently in a virtual office infrastructure, providing consistent follow-up and utilizing offsite connectivity and wireless communications. Familiarity with automated server monitoring programs and remote analysis techniques.

Physical Capability
Willingness to react to off-hour network emergencies when on emergency call.

Capability to pick up, carry, and reposition all parts of user workstations, network appliances, printers and accessories.
