Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, PC desktop, notebook and peripheral integration, remote connectivity for users

Primary Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and resolve problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered desktop and notebook systems and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer users in assisting to find and resolve application and operating system problems that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and verify a variety of popular apps on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to diagnose and remediate both emergency and persistent problems that impact the reliability, security, speed, accessibility, and general functionality of workstations, notebooks, printers and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, upgrades, and swaps of PCs, notebooks and related equipment
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and remediation of desktops and notebooks and related equipment
  • Remain up-to-date with an expert knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and use of connectivity infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation skill, talent to implement temporary patches to resolve network problems and escalate support services when required
  • Broad experience delivering software help to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 apps including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven commitment to enabling continuous productivity
  • Work independently and show marked quality of responsibility and drive
