Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

  • Support, analyze and resolve problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered desktop and laptop computer systems and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer end users in helping to find and resolve app and OS issues that hinder productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a range of applications on user workstations
  • Work on-site to find and resolve both urgent and persistent issues that reduce the reliability, protection, speed, accessibility, and overall functionality of desktops, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, updates, and exchanges of desktops, laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Assure the prompt analysis and repair of workstations and notebooks and associated equipment
  • Remain current with advanced knowledge of PC and notebook applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet


Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC admin new program setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, knowledge to install short-term patches to resolve computer problems and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad experience delivering software help to small companies for all Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Work without supervision and display marked quality of responsibility and motivation
