Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our customer sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Microsoft Windows-based workstation and notebook systems and others as required.
  • Work directly with computer users in helping to find and resolve application and operating system problems that hinder productivity
  • Install, configure and verify a variety of applications on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to diagnose and fix both urgent and chronic issues that impact the reliability, security, speed, connectivity, and general functionality of desktops, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and perform other installations, updates, and swaps of workstations, notebooks and associated hardware
  • Assure the timely diagnosis and repair of PCs and laptop computers and related equipment
  • Remain up-to-date with an expert knowledge of PC and notebook computing applications and utilization of connectivity infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and resolution)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation skill, talent to implement temporary patches to solve computer issues and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth background delivering software help to small organizations for all Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to enabling continuous operations
  • Operate independently and display distinct quality of ownership and drive
