Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's client locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Microsoft Windows-based desktop and laptop systems and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer users in assisting to identify and resolve app and operating system issues that disrupt user productivity
  • Deploy, configure and test a range of applications on user PCs
  • Work on-premises to diagnose and fix both emergency and chronic issues that reduce the reliability, protection, performance, accessibility, and general capability of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user equipment and perform other installations, upgrades, and swaps of PCs, notebooks and associated hardware
  • Assure the timely analysis and repair of desktops and notebooks and associated equipment
  • Stay updated with advanced knowledge of desktop and laptop computing applications and utilization of connectivity infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation administration new software setup, computer and peripheral integration, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, knowledge to install temporary patches to solve computer problems and escalate support when required
  • In-depth background providing software assistance to small companies for all Windows OS, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 apps including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to enabling uninterrupted operations
  • Work without supervision and show distinct characteristics of responsibility and motivation
