Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our customer sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered PC and notebook systems and others as needed.
  • Work directly with computer users in helping to find and resolve application and OS issues that disrupt productivity
  • Install, configure and test a range of software programs on user PCs
  • Work on-site to find and fix both urgent and persistent issues that reduce the stability, protection, performance, connectivity, and general functionality of workstations, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user hardware and perform other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of workstations, notebooks and associated equipment
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and remediation of workstations and notebooks and associated hardware
  • Stay up-to-date with advanced knowledge of workstation and laptop computing applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral integration, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, talent to implement short-term patches to solve network problems and escalate support when required
  • In-depth background delivering software help to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 programs including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Operate without supervision and show marked characteristics of ownership and drive
