Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to assist Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's customer sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

  • Support, diagnose and troubleshoot issues with all versions of Windows-based desktop and laptop computers and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer users in helping to identify and fix app and OS problems that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, configure and test a variety of applications on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and fix both emergency and persistent problems that affect the stability, protection, speed, connectivity, and overall functionality of workstations, notebooks, printers and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, upgrades, and swaps of desktops, notebooks and associated equipment
  • Assure the timely diagnosis and repair of workstations and laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with advanced knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet


Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, talent to implement short-term patches to solve computer problems and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth background delivering software assistance to small companies for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 programs such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated dedication to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Operate independently and show distinct quality of ownership and drive
