Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to assist our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and resolve issues with all versions of Microsoft Windows-powered desktop and notebook computers and others as needed.
  • Work with computer users in helping to find and fix app and operating system problems that disrupt productivity
  • Deploy, configure and verify a range of applications on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to diagnose and remediate both emergency and chronic issues that affect the reliability, security, speed, connectivity, and general functionality of workstations, notebooks, printers and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and perform other deployments, upgrades, and exchanges of PCs, notebooks and related hardware
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and repair of PCs and laptop computers and related hardware
  • Stay updated with an expert knowledge of PC and notebook computing applications and utilization of connectivity infrastructure including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, talent to implement short-term patches to solve computer problems and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth experience delivering software help to small companies for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to enabling continuous productivity
  • Work independently and display marked quality of ownership and drive
