Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our client locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve problems with all versions of Microsoft Windows-powered PC and notebook computers and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer end users in helping to identify and fix app and OS problems that impact productivity
  • Install, integrate and test a variety of software programs on user PCs
  • Work on-premises to diagnose and resolve both emergency and persistent issues that impact the reliability, protection, performance, connectivity, and overall functionality of workstations, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of PCs, laptop computers and related equipment
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and repair of PCs and laptop computers and related hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with an expert knowledge of desktop and laptop applications and utilization of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC administration new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, talent to install short-term patches to solve computer problems and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth background providing software help to small companies for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Office 365 applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Work independently and show marked quality of ownership and motivation
