Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to assist Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Required Expertise

Primary Areas of Expertise
  • Microsoft Exchange-based Outlook email
  • Microsoft software products, workstation, notebook and peripheral integration, offsite access for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network administration, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and troubleshoot issues with all versions of Windows-powered workstation and notebook computers and others as required.
  • Work with computer users in helping to identify and fix application and operating system problems that hinder productivity
  • Install, configure and test a variety of popular apps on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to find and fix both emergency and chronic problems that impact the reliability, security, performance, accessibility, and general capability of workstations, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and perform other installations, updates, and exchanges of workstations, laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and repair of workstations and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain current with an expert knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and use of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new software setup, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and resolution)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, knowledge to install temporary patches to solve computer issues and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth experience delivering software help to small companies for all Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated dedication to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Work without supervision and show marked quality of ownership and motivation
