Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our customer locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and resolve issues with all releases of Windows-powered workstation and notebook computers and others as required.
  • Work directly with computer users in assisting to identify and resolve application and OS problems that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, configure and test a variety of popular apps on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to find and fix both emergency and persistent problems that reduce the reliability, protection, performance, connectivity, and general functionality of desktops, notebooks, printers and other hardware
  • Install new end-user equipment and perform other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of workstations, laptop computers and related equipment
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and remediation of workstations and laptop computers and related equipment
  • Stay updated with advanced knowledge of workstation and notebook applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, knowledge to implement temporary patches to resolve network problems and escalate support services when necessary
  • Broad experience providing software help to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated dedication to facilitating continuous productivity
  • Work without supervision and show distinct characteristics of responsibility and motivation
