Main Activities

Assist a range of small and midsize business clients to support computer networks online, utilizing advanced technology including rules-based diagnostics and virtual office connections. Cooperate extensively via telephony with client's IS group to provide comprehensive IT outsourcing. Vital areas of expertise include Exchange-based email, Active Directory, security, server monitoring, and network architecture. The Senior Remote Support Engineer will resolve software problems such as desktop program integration issues, server trouble, data access problems, and connectivity issues, without onsite presence, if the customer infrastructure permits.

Client Support, Business Development Engineers and various engineers

Customers, technical resources, and manufacturers/publishers


Duties

Support and repair Windows 2000/2003 powered information networks. Work online to identify and repair both emergency and chronic problems concerned with availability, protection, throughput, access, and general functionality. Excellent empathy and phone-based people skills.

Set up and integrate Microsoft Windows-based application servers and .NET servers. Set up and integrate Windows 2K, 2003, Vista and Windows XP workstation environments. Install and evaluate a variety of IT services and programs.

Design and deploy information technology architectures and protection strategies to support client's corporate goals.

Support and administer Outlook clients with back-end Exchange host, Office suite, telecom, and high-speed Internet access.

Plan and implement upgrades to Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Windows Exchange 2003.

Optimize system availability and throughput through fault-tolerant design, efficient system architecture, and automated network monitoring.

Create on-going records of the environment as it changes.

Spec out and order updated server and network hardware and/or software in order to support client's business growth and to host additional applications.


Qualifications/
Education

Required Professional Experience
7 years experience in desktop and server management new program integration, hardware setup, problem isolation and resolution).

Strong technical troubleshooting and analysis capability, knowledge to implement fast workarounds to technical problems.

Background in business software help (Microsoft products in a variety of client environments.

Experience with offsite network monitoring tools and remote repair techniques.

Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a virtual office environment, providing reliable follow-through and using remote connectivity and wireless access technology.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Accustomed to working in a team environment.

Demonstrated dedication and commitment to providing continuous operations.

Operates independently and demonstrates strong characteristics of ownership and initiative.

Schooling
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

Cisco Systems Accreditation (CCDA, CCIE or similar).

Two-year degree in computer science, or equivalent work background.
