Essential Functions

Help clients plan, deploy, and manage Cisco technology for access solutions that incorporate basic, high-speed, integrated, and remote networking. Key areas of expertise include PIX firewalls, Cisco switches and routers, Cisco Aironet wireless products, Cisco VoIP solutions, and Cisco security and VPN technology.

Works Closely with:
President of Progent, Progent MCSEs and technical sales staff, plus CIOs and senior management of small business clients in the San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California, and major cities throughout the United States.


Responsibilities

Help clients develop a security policy and configure Cisco firewalls, switches and routers to enforce clients' security policy.

Provide in-depth consulting for Cisco's entire range of security and Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions including routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection systems and VPN access concentrators.

Troubleshoot Cisco PIX firewalls both remotely and onsite, and can train your in-house IT staff to configure and maintain configure and your PIX firewall.

Configure and support converged business networks by supporting Cisco Integrated Services Routers in combination with Cisco Catalyst switches and Aironet wireless access points.

Help customers develop comprehensive wireless network designs and implementations that incorporate a range of computer platforms and wireless networking devices. Help clients achieve seamless integration between Cisco wireless technology and wireless products from other vendors.

Evaluate clients' existing network and Internet access infrastructure to determine whether an IT environment is optimized to support VoIP. Help clients select and deploy appropriate Cisco hardware and software and integrate Cisco-powered VoIP solution with technology from other vendors.

Maximize system availability and performance through fault-tolerant configuration and efficient network architecture.

Create on-going documentation of clients' environment as it evolves.

Specify and order new server and communications equipment and/or software to support growth and additional applications.


Qualifications/
Education

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
Cisco certified network engineers with CCNP, CCDP or CCIE certification, strong troubleshooting and communications skills, and the ability to implement quick, temporary workarounds to technical problems.

Willingness to exchange information with clients and colleagues and to escalate problems to appropriate specialists when needed.

Ability to operate effectively in a virtual office environment, providing consistent follow-through and utilizing remote access and wireless connectivity technology. Familiarity with remote monitoring tools and remote troubleshooting techniques.

Physical Requirements
Ability to respond to off-hour technical emergencies when on extended call.

Ability to lift, carry, and move all components of user workstations, the network, and peripherals.
