Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to help our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Primary Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Windows-powered PC and laptop systems and others as required.
  • Work directly with computer end users in helping to find and resolve application and OS problems that hinder user productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a variety of applications on user workstations
  • Operate on-site to find and remediate both emergency and chronic problems that affect the reliability, security, performance, accessibility, and general functionality of desktops, notebooks, printers and other hardware
  • Install new end-user hardware and help with other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of desktops, notebooks and related equipment
  • Provide the prompt analysis and remediation of PCs and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain updated with an expert knowledge of desktop and laptop applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation administration new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation skill, talent to implement short-term patches to resolve network issues and escalate support when necessary
  • In-depth background delivering software help to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to enabling uninterrupted productivity
  • Work without supervision and show marked characteristics of responsibility and drive
