Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve issues with all versions of Microsoft Windows-powered workstation and notebook computers and others as needed.
  • Work with computer users in helping to identify and fix app and operating system problems that disrupt user productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a range of software programs on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and remediate both emergency and chronic issues that affect the stability, security, performance, accessibility, and general functionality of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other installations, upgrades, and swaps of workstations, laptop computers and related equipment
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and repair of PCs and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain updated with an expert knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and use of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC admin new software setup, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation ability, knowledge to implement temporary patches to solve computer issues and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad experience providing software help to small organizations for all Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated dedication to enabling uninterrupted operations
  • Operate without supervision and show distinct characteristics of ownership and drive
