Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our customer premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, workstation, laptop and peripheral setup, remote access for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered PC and laptop systems and others as required.
  • Work directly with computer users in assisting to identify and fix app and OS problems that disrupt productivity
  • Install, configure and test a range of popular apps on user workstations
  • Work on-premises to diagnose and remediate both emergency and persistent issues that reduce the reliability, protection, speed, accessibility, and overall capability of workstations, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and perform other deployments, updates, and swaps of PCs, laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and repair of workstations and laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Remain current with advanced knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral integration, trouble analysis and resolution)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, talent to install temporary patches to solve computer problems and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth background providing software help to small companies for all Microsoft Windows OS, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to enabling uninterrupted productivity
  • Work without supervision and show marked quality of responsibility and drive
