Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Expertise

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and resolve problems with all releases of Windows-based PC and notebook computers and others as required.
  • Work with computer end users in helping to find and resolve app and OS issues that disrupt productivity
  • Install, configure and test a range of software programs on user PCs
  • Operate on-site to diagnose and remediate both emergency and persistent problems that impact the stability, protection, performance, connectivity, and general capability of desktops, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user hardware and perform other deployments, updates, and swaps of PCs, notebooks and associated hardware
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and repair of PCs and laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Remain up-to-date with advanced knowledge of workstation and laptop applications and utilization of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation administration new program configuration, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation skill, talent to implement short-term patches to solve computer problems and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad background delivering software help to small organizations for all Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to enabling uninterrupted productivity
  • Work independently and show distinct characteristics of responsibility and drive
