Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, PC desktop, notebook and peripheral setup, remote access for teleworkers and mobile users

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and troubleshoot problems with all versions of Microsoft Windows-powered desktop and notebook systems and others as needed.
  • Work with computer users in helping to identify and resolve app and OS problems that hinder user productivity
  • Deploy, configure and verify a variety of popular apps on user workstations
  • Operate on-site to diagnose and resolve both urgent and persistent problems that impact the stability, protection, speed, connectivity, and general capability of desktops, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other installations, updates, and exchanges of PCs, notebooks and associated equipment
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and remediation of PCs and notebooks and associated equipment
  • Remain current with advanced knowledge of desktop and laptop computing applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation ability, knowledge to install temporary patches to resolve computer problems and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth background delivering software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Operate without supervision and show distinct characteristics of responsibility and motivation
