Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered desktop and laptop computers and others as needed.
  • Work directly with computer end users in helping to find and fix application and operating system problems that impact user productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and verify a range of popular apps on user workstations
  • Operate on-site to find and fix both urgent and chronic problems that reduce the reliability, security, speed, accessibility, and general functionality of workstations, notebooks, printers and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other installations, upgrades, and swaps of desktops, laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Assure the timely analysis and repair of PCs and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain updated with an expert knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and use of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation ability, knowledge to install temporary patches to solve network problems and escalate support when required
  • In-depth background delivering software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Office 365 programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated dedication to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Operate without supervision and display distinct characteristics of ownership and drive
