Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to assist Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our customer sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and resolve issues with all versions of Windows-powered PC and laptop computer systems and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer end users in helping to find and resolve app and OS issues that disrupt productivity
  • Deploy, configure and verify a variety of software programs on user workstations
  • Work on-site to diagnose and fix both emergency and persistent issues that impact the reliability, security, speed, accessibility, and general functionality of desktops, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and perform other deployments, upgrades, and exchanges of workstations, laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and repair of desktops and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with an expert knowledge of workstation and notebook computing applications and utilization of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, talent to implement temporary patches to resolve computer problems and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth background providing software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 programs including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to enabling uninterrupted productivity
  • Operate independently and show marked quality of ownership and drive
