Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our customer premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

  • Microsoft Exchange-based Outlook email
  • Microsoft software products, workstation, notebook and peripheral integration, remote access for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, such as user maintenance

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and troubleshoot issues with all versions of Microsoft Windows-based workstation and notebook computer systems and others as required.
  • Work directly with computer users in helping to find and fix app and OS problems that hinder productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a variety of applications on user workstations
  • Work on-site to diagnose and remediate both urgent and persistent problems that affect the stability, protection, performance, accessibility, and overall functionality of desktops, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, upgrades, and exchanges of desktops, laptop computers and related hardware
  • Assure the timely analysis and repair of PCs and laptop computers and related equipment
  • Stay updated with advanced knowledge of workstation and notebook applications and use of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new program setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, talent to implement short-term patches to solve network issues and escalate support when required
  • Broad experience providing software assistance to small companies for all Windows OS, Office Suite, and Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating continuous operations
  • Operate independently and display distinct quality of responsibility and motivation
