Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to help our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's customer premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and resolve issues with all releases of Windows-based PC and notebook computers and others as needed.
  • Work with computer users in helping to find and resolve application and OS issues that disrupt productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a variety of popular apps on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to diagnose and remediate both emergency and persistent problems that reduce the reliability, protection, performance, connectivity, and general capability of desktops, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user hardware and help with other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of PCs, notebooks and related equipment
  • Assure the prompt analysis and remediation of desktops and laptop computers and related hardware
  • Remain current with advanced knowledge of workstation and notebook computing applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, talent to implement short-term patches to solve computer issues and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth background providing software help to small companies for all Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven dedication to facilitating continuous operations
  • Work without supervision and show marked characteristics of ownership and drive
