Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our client locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve issues with all releases of Windows-powered workstation and laptop computers and others as needed.
  • Work with computer end users in assisting to identify and fix application and OS problems that impact user productivity
  • Deploy, configure and verify a variety of applications on user workstations
  • Operate on-site to diagnose and remediate both urgent and chronic problems that affect the reliability, protection, speed, connectivity, and overall functionality of desktops, notebooks, printers and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and perform other deployments, updates, and exchanges of desktops, notebooks and related equipment
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and repair of PCs and notebooks and associated hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with an expert knowledge of PC and laptop computing applications and utilization of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation administration new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, talent to install temporary patches to resolve network problems and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad background delivering software help to small organizations for all Windows OS, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven commitment to facilitating continuous productivity
  • Operate without supervision and display distinct characteristics of responsibility and motivation
