Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's customer locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Required Expertise

Required Areas of Expertise
  • Exchange-based Outlook email
  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, PC desktop, laptop and peripheral integration, offsite access for users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and resolve problems with all versions of Windows-powered workstation and laptop computers and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer end users in helping to find and resolve application and operating system issues that impact productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a variety of applications on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to diagnose and remediate both urgent and chronic issues that affect the reliability, protection, speed, connectivity, and overall functionality of workstations, laptops, printers and other hardware
  • Install new end-user hardware and help with other deployments, updates, and exchanges of PCs, laptop computers and related hardware
  • Provide the prompt analysis and remediation of desktops and notebooks and related hardware
  • Stay current with an expert knowledge of workstation and laptop applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation ability, knowledge to implement temporary patches to resolve network issues and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth experience providing software help to small companies for all Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 programs including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Work independently and show distinct characteristics of ownership and motivation
