Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and resolve problems with all releases of Windows-based desktop and laptop systems and others as needed.
  • Work with computer users in assisting to identify and fix application and operating system problems that disrupt user productivity
  • Deploy, configure and test a variety of popular apps on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and resolve both urgent and chronic issues that impact the reliability, protection, speed, accessibility, and overall capability of workstations, laptops, printers and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and perform other installations, updates, and exchanges of PCs, laptop computers and related hardware
  • Provide the prompt analysis and repair of PCs and notebooks and associated equipment
  • Remain up-to-date with advanced knowledge of workstation and laptop computing applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral integration, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation skill, knowledge to install short-term patches to solve network issues and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad experience delivering software assistance to small companies for all Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Work without supervision and show distinct quality of ownership and motivation
