Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

  • Microsoft software products, PC desktop, notebook and peripheral integration, remote connectivity for users

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and resolve problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-based desktop and laptop systems and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer users in helping to identify and resolve application and operating system problems that impact productivity
  • Deploy, configure and test a variety of applications on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to diagnose and resolve both urgent and chronic problems that reduce the reliability, protection, performance, accessibility, and overall capability of workstations, laptops, printers and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other installations, upgrades, and swaps of desktops, notebooks and related hardware
  • Provide the timely analysis and repair of desktops and notebooks and associated equipment
  • Stay current with an expert knowledge of desktop and notebook computing applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and resolution)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation skill, knowledge to install temporary patches to solve network issues and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth background providing software help to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows OS, Office Suite, and Office 365 programs such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated dedication to enabling continuous operations
  • Operate independently and show distinct characteristics of responsibility and drive
