Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our customer locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and troubleshoot problems with all versions of Windows-powered PC and notebook computers and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer end users in assisting to identify and resolve application and OS issues that impact productivity
  • Install, integrate and test a variety of popular apps on user workstations
  • Work on-site to find and remediate both urgent and chronic problems that reduce the reliability, protection, speed, accessibility, and general capability of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Install new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, upgrades, and exchanges of PCs, notebooks and related hardware
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and remediation of workstations and notebooks and related equipment
  • Stay current with advanced knowledge of desktop and laptop applications and use of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation ability, knowledge to implement temporary patches to solve computer issues and escalate support when required
  • In-depth experience providing software help to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows OS, Office Suite, and Office 365 applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven commitment to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Operate without supervision and display marked quality of responsibility and drive
