Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to assist Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Required Expertise

Required Areas of Expertise
  • Microsoft Exchange-based Outlook email
  • Microsoft software products, workstation, laptop and peripheral integration, remote connectivity for users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, including user maintenance

Primary Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve issues with all versions of Windows-based PC and notebook systems and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer end users in helping to identify and resolve app and OS problems that impact productivity
  • Install, configure and verify a variety of applications on user workstations
  • Operate on-site to diagnose and remediate both emergency and persistent issues that impact the stability, security, speed, accessibility, and general functionality of desktops, notebooks, printers and other hardware
  • Install new end-user hardware and perform other installations, upgrades, and swaps of workstations, laptop computers and related hardware
  • Assure the timely diagnosis and repair of desktops and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain updated with advanced knowledge of workstation and notebook computing applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, knowledge to implement temporary patches to resolve computer issues and escalate support when required
  • Broad background providing software help to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating continuous operations
  • Operate without supervision and display marked characteristics of ownership and motivation
