Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's customer sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Required Expertise

  • Microsoft Exchange-based Outlook email client
  • Microsoft software products, workstation, notebook and peripheral setup, remote access for users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network administration, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered workstation and laptop systems and others as needed.
  • Work directly with computer end users in helping to identify and fix application and OS issues that disrupt productivity
  • Install, integrate and verify a variety of applications on user PCs
  • Work on-site to diagnose and fix both emergency and persistent problems that affect the stability, security, speed, connectivity, and general capability of desktops, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user hardware and perform other installations, upgrades, and swaps of PCs, notebooks and associated equipment
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and remediation of desktops and laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Stay updated with an expert knowledge of PC and laptop computing applications and utilization of connectivity infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation ability, knowledge to implement short-term patches to solve network issues and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth background delivering software help to small companies for all Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated dedication to facilitating continuous operations
  • Operate independently and show marked quality of responsibility and drive
