Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's customer premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

  • Microsoft software products, workstation, notebook and peripheral integration, offsite connectivity for users

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered desktop and laptop computer systems and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer users in helping to find and fix app and operating system issues that disrupt productivity
  • Install, configure and test a variety of popular apps on user PCs
  • Work on-site to diagnose and fix both urgent and chronic problems that impact the reliability, protection, performance, connectivity, and overall functionality of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user hardware and help with other installations, upgrades, and swaps of desktops, laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Provide the prompt analysis and remediation of workstations and notebooks and associated hardware
  • Stay updated with advanced knowledge of workstation and notebook computing applications and utilization of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC administration new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, knowledge to install temporary patches to solve computer issues and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth experience delivering software help to small companies for all Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to enabling continuous operations
  • Work without supervision and display marked quality of ownership and drive
