Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to help our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and troubleshoot issues with all versions of Microsoft Windows-based workstation and notebook computer systems and others as needed.
  • Work with computer users in helping to identify and fix app and operating system issues that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and verify a variety of popular apps on user PCs
  • Work on-site to diagnose and fix both emergency and chronic issues that impact the stability, security, performance, connectivity, and general functionality of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and perform other deployments, upgrades, and swaps of PCs, notebooks and associated hardware
  • Assure the timely analysis and repair of desktops and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with an expert knowledge of PC and notebook applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC admin new program setup, computer and peripheral integration, trouble analysis and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation ability, talent to install temporary patches to solve computer issues and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth experience providing software assistance to small companies for all Windows OS, Office Suite, and Office 365 programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Work without supervision and display distinct quality of responsibility and motivation
