Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's customer locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve issues with all versions of Microsoft Windows-based workstation and laptop computer systems and others as required.
  • Work directly with computer users in helping to find and resolve application and operating system issues that impact user productivity
  • Deploy, configure and test a variety of applications on user PCs
  • Operate on-site to diagnose and remediate both urgent and persistent issues that affect the reliability, protection, speed, connectivity, and overall capability of workstations, laptops, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and help with other installations, updates, and exchanges of workstations, notebooks and related equipment
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and repair of workstations and laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Remain current with advanced knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation administration new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, knowledge to implement short-term patches to solve network issues and escalate support services when required
  • Broad experience delivering software assistance to small companies for all Windows OS, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to facilitating continuous operations
  • Work independently and display distinct characteristics of responsibility and drive
