Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's customer locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Required Areas of Expertise
  • Exchange-based Outlook email
  • Microsoft software products, PC desktop, notebook and peripheral setup, remote connectivity for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, including user maintenance

Primary Activities

  • Maintain, analyze and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered workstation and laptop computers and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer end users in assisting to identify and resolve app and OS issues that disrupt productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and test a range of software programs on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and fix both urgent and chronic issues that impact the stability, security, performance, accessibility, and general functionality of desktops, notebooks, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Install new end-user hardware and perform other deployments, upgrades, and swaps of PCs, notebooks and associated equipment
  • Provide the timely analysis and remediation of desktops and laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Remain current with advanced knowledge of workstation and laptop computing applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet


Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and resolution)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation skill, knowledge to implement temporary patches to solve computer problems and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth experience providing software help to small companies for all Microsoft Windows OS, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven dedication to enabling continuous operations
  • Work independently and show marked quality of ownership and motivation
