Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's customer sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Primary Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Windows-based desktop and laptop computers and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer users in helping to find and resolve app and OS issues that hinder user productivity
  • Deploy, configure and test a variety of popular apps on user PCs
  • Operate on-premises to find and remediate both urgent and persistent issues that reduce the stability, security, speed, connectivity, and overall capability of desktops, notebooks, printers and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and help with other deployments, updates, and swaps of workstations, notebooks and related equipment
  • Provide the prompt diagnosis and remediation of PCs and notebooks and related equipment
  • Remain updated with advanced knowledge of PC and laptop applications and utilization of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC administration new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation ability, knowledge to install short-term patches to solve network problems and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad experience delivering software help to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Work without supervision and display distinct quality of ownership and motivation
