Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

  • Exchange-based Outlook email client
  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, workstation, laptop and peripheral integration, remote access for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network administration, such as user maintenance

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered PC and notebook computers and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer end users in helping to identify and resolve app and OS issues that impact user productivity
  • Install, integrate and test a range of applications on user workstations
  • Work on-site to find and remediate both emergency and chronic issues that impact the reliability, protection, speed, accessibility, and overall functionality of desktops, laptops, printers and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user equipment and help with other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of PCs, laptop computers and related equipment
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and remediation of PCs and laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Remain updated with an expert knowledge of workstation and notebook computing applications and use of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new software setup, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation skill, knowledge to implement short-term patches to resolve network problems and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth experience providing software assistance to small companies for all Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 apps including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Demonstrated commitment to enabling uninterrupted productivity
  • Operate without supervision and show distinct characteristics of responsibility and drive
