Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers based on current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work extensively with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Required Expertise

Primary Areas of Expertise
  • Exchange-based Outlook email client
  • Microsoft software products, workstation, laptop and peripheral integration, offsite access for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network administration, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered workstation and notebook computer systems and others as required.
  • Work with computer users in assisting to find and fix app and operating system problems that hinder user productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and test a range of applications on user PCs
  • Work on-site to diagnose and resolve both urgent and persistent issues that impact the stability, protection, speed, accessibility, and general capability of workstations, notebooks, printers and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user hardware and help with other installations, upgrades, and swaps of PCs, laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Assure the prompt analysis and repair of PCs and notebooks and related hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with an expert knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, knowledge to install short-term patches to resolve computer problems and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth experience delivering software assistance to small companies for all Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to enabling uninterrupted productivity
  • Work independently and display distinct quality of responsibility and motivation
