Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

  • Microsoft Exchange-based Outlook email
  • Microsoft software products, PC desktop, notebook and peripheral setup, remote connectivity for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and troubleshoot issues with all versions of Windows-based PC and notebook computers and others as needed.
  • Work with computer users in assisting to identify and resolve application and operating system problems that disrupt user productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and test a variety of popular apps on user PCs
  • Work on-site to find and remediate both urgent and chronic issues that reduce the stability, security, speed, connectivity, and overall functionality of desktops, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and perform other deployments, updates, and swaps of workstations, notebooks and associated equipment
  • Provide the timely diagnosis and repair of desktops and notebooks and associated equipment
  • Remain current with an expert knowledge of workstation and laptop applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation ability, knowledge to install short-term patches to solve network problems and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth experience delivering software assistance to small organizations for all Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to enabling continuous operations
  • Work without supervision and show marked characteristics of responsibility and drive
