Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

  • Exchange-based Outlook email
  • Microsoft software products, PC desktop, laptop and peripheral setup, remote connectivity for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and resolve problems with all versions of Microsoft Windows-based workstation and notebook systems and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer end users in assisting to identify and resolve app and operating system problems that disrupt productivity
  • Install, integrate and test a range of software programs on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and remediate both emergency and persistent problems that reduce the reliability, security, performance, connectivity, and general functionality of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and help with other deployments, upgrades, and swaps of desktops, notebooks and related equipment
  • Provide the prompt analysis and repair of desktops and laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Remain updated with an expert knowledge of desktop and laptop applications and utilization of connectivity infrastructure including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation skill, talent to install short-term patches to solve network issues and escalate support services when required
  • Broad background providing software assistance to small organizations for all Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven commitment to facilitating continuous operations
  • Work independently and show distinct quality of responsibility and motivation
