Progent is seeking Desktop Support Experts to help our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's customer sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. Also, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, diagnose and resolve problems with all versions of Windows-based desktop and laptop computer systems and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer users in assisting to identify and resolve application and OS problems that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and test a range of software programs on user PCs
  • Work on-site to diagnose and resolve both urgent and chronic problems that impact the reliability, security, performance, accessibility, and overall functionality of desktops, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other deployments, upgrades, and swaps of workstations, laptop computers and related hardware
  • Assure the prompt analysis and repair of PCs and notebooks and associated hardware
  • Remain current with advanced knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and use of WAN infrastructure including the Internet


Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC administration new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, talent to implement short-term patches to solve computer issues and escalate support when required
  • In-depth experience delivering software help to small companies for all Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated dedication to facilitating continuous productivity
  • Operate without supervision and show marked quality of ownership and drive
