Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to assist Progent's clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's customer sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and troubleshoot issues with all versions of Windows-powered workstation and notebook computers and others as required.
  • Work with computer users in assisting to find and resolve application and OS issues that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and test a range of software programs on user PCs
  • Work on-site to diagnose and fix both urgent and persistent issues that affect the reliability, protection, speed, accessibility, and overall capability of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and perform other deployments, updates, and exchanges of workstations, notebooks and related equipment
  • Assure the prompt analysis and repair of desktops and notebooks and associated hardware
  • Remain updated with an expert knowledge of workstation and laptop computing applications and use of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in desktop PC admin new software configuration, computer and peripheral integration, trouble analysis and resolution)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, talent to implement short-term patches to resolve network issues and escalate support when necessary
  • In-depth experience providing software help to small organizations for all Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven commitment to facilitating continuous operations
  • Work independently and display distinct quality of ownership and drive
