Main Activities

Help a range of small businesses to support computer environments powered by MS Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003, MS Exchange 2007 and 2003 Server, and .NET technology. Cooperate closely with client's IS staff or deliver full-service IS outsourced services. Key areas of expertise include Exchange-based email, Active Directory, Protection, network monitoring, and system infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Support and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003-based computer systems. Operate on-site and remotely to diagnose and resolve both emergency and chronic issues related to reliability, protection, throughput, accessibility, and overall functionality.

Install, setup and validate Microsoft Windows-powered application servers and .NET servers. Set up and deploy Microsoft Windows 2K, MS Windows XP, and Windows Vista workstation computers. Setup and evaluate a variety of network services and application programs.

Design network architectures and protections strategies that support customer's business goals.

Service and administer Microsoft Outlook client with back-end MS Exchange Server, Microsoft Office suite, telephony, and broadband Internet access.

Plan and implement upgrades to MS Windows XP and Vista, Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, Active Directory, and MS Exchange Server 2007 and 2003.

Optimize system reliability and throughput through fault-tolerant topology, efficient network infrastructure, and proactive network monitoring.

Create accurate records of the network as it evolves.

Identify and procure additional server and communications hardware and/or programs to support expansion and additional functions.


Experience/
Education

Minimum Professional Background
Microsoft Certified System Engineer, proven analysis and diagnostic skills and people skills, and the knowledge to come up with temporary patches to network problems.

Ability to resolve application problems including desktop program compatibility issues, host system trouble, data service problems, and connectivity problems.

Willingness to trade knowledge with clients and coworkers and to escalate problems to Progent specialists when appropriate.

Ability to operate efficiently in a virtual office infrastructure, providing reliable follow-up and utilizing offsite connectivity and wireless devices. Familiarity with automated network monitoring utilities and remote repair methodologies.

Physical Requirements
Ability to react to off-hour network crises when on emergency station.

Capability to lift, move, and reposition all parts of client desktops, network hardware, printers and accessories.
