Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and resolve problems with all releases of Windows-powered PC and laptop systems and others as necessary.
  • Work with computer users in helping to find and resolve application and OS problems that impact productivity
  • Install, integrate and test a variety of software programs on user workstations
  • Work on-premises to diagnose and remediate both urgent and persistent problems that affect the reliability, security, speed, accessibility, and overall functionality of desktops, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and help with other deployments, updates, and exchanges of workstations, laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Assure the timely diagnosis and remediation of desktops and notebooks and related hardware
  • Stay current with advanced knowledge of desktop and notebook applications and use of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience

Minimum Work Background Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation ability, knowledge to implement temporary patches to resolve network issues and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth experience providing software assistance to small companies for all Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 programs such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to facilitating continuous operations
  • Operate independently and show distinct quality of responsibility and motivation
