Essential Activities

Assist a variety of small companies to support computer systems powered by Microsoft Windows Vista, MS Windows XP, MS Windows 2008 or 2003 Server, MS Exchange 2007 and 2003 Server, and .NET technology. Work closely with customer's network support group or provide comprehensive IT outsourcing. Required fields of expertise include Exchange-based email, Active Directory, Protection, network monitoring, and network architecture.

Chief Executive of Progent, Progent MCSEs and technical sales managers, plus CIO and top management of small company clients in the San Francisco Bay Area, and key areas throughout the United States


Responsibilities

Support and repair Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and 2003-based IT environments. Work in person and offsite to analyze and fix both urgent and chronic problems related to uptime, security, capacity, connectivity, and general capability.

Install, configure and validate Windows-based application hosts and Microsoft .NET servers. Set up and integrate Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, and MS Windows Vista workstation computers. Configure and analyze various information services and application programs.

Plan IT architectures and security policies that promote client's company growth.

Service and manage Microsoft Outlook client with backoffice Exchange Server, Microsoft Office suite, telephony, and fast Internet connection.

Plan and deploy upgrades to MS Windows XP and Vista, Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2003 Server, Active Directory, and Exchange 2007 and 2003 Server.

Maximize system uptime and capacity via non-stop topology, efficient system infrastructure, and automated server monitoring.

Produce accurate documentation of the environment as it expands.

Identify and order new server and communications equipment and/or software to support growth and additional functions.


Experience/
Education

Minimum Work Background
MCSE, strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills and people skills, and the experience to implement quick patches to technical issues.

Understand how to to troubleshoot application issues such as PC application configuration issues, server issues, data service difficulties, and network access issues.

Open to trade information with clients and colleagues and to escalate issues to additional engineers when appropriate.

Ability to operate effectively in a virtual office environment, delivering reliable follow-through and using online connectivity and mobile technology. Experience with remote server monitoring programs and remote troubleshooting methodologies.

Physical Requirements
Willingness to respond to off-hour network emergencies when on extended station.

Ability to lift, move, and reposition all components of user workstations, network hardware, and peripherals.
