Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to assist our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at our client locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, analyze and troubleshoot issues with all versions of Windows-based PC and notebook systems and others as required.
  • Work directly with computer end users in assisting to identify and resolve app and operating system problems that hinder productivity
  • Install, configure and test a variety of software programs on user PCs
  • Work on-site to find and remediate both urgent and chronic issues that affect the reliability, security, performance, accessibility, and general functionality of workstations, laptops, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and perform other deployments, updates, and swaps of desktops, laptop computers and associated equipment
  • Assure the prompt diagnosis and remediation of PCs and laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with advanced knowledge of workstation and notebook applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, talent to install temporary patches to resolve network problems and escalate support services when necessary
  • In-depth background delivering software help to small organizations for all Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 apps such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to facilitating uninterrupted operations
  • Work without supervision and show marked characteristics of responsibility and drive
