Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to assist Progent's customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at Progent's client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers based on current Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve problems with all versions of Windows-based desktop and notebook computers and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer end users in assisting to identify and resolve application and OS issues that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and verify a range of software programs on user PCs
  • Work on-site to diagnose and resolve both emergency and chronic issues that reduce the reliability, protection, speed, connectivity, and general capability of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Install new end-user equipment and perform other deployments, updates, and exchanges of PCs, notebooks and related hardware
  • Provide the prompt analysis and remediation of workstations and notebooks and related equipment
  • Stay up-to-date with an expert knowledge of PC and notebook computing applications and use of WAN technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Professional Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in workstation admin new program configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and resolution)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation ability, knowledge to implement short-term patches to resolve network problems and escalate support services when required
  • In-depth experience providing software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to enabling uninterrupted productivity
  • Operate without supervision and show marked characteristics of ownership and motivation
