Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's customer sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with customer's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Required Areas of Expertise
  • Exchange-based Outlook email
  • Microsoft operating systems and applications, PC desktop, notebook and peripheral integration, remote access for teleworkers and mobile users
  • Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
  • Basic network management, including user maintenance

Essential Activities

  • Support, diagnose and resolve problems with all versions of Microsoft Windows-powered desktop and laptop computers and others as needed.
  • Work with computer end users in assisting to find and fix application and OS problems that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, integrate and test a range of applications on user PCs
  • Work on-premises to find and fix both urgent and chronic issues that impact the stability, protection, speed, accessibility, and general capability of desktops, notebooks, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and perform other installations, updates, and exchanges of workstations, notebooks and related equipment
  • Assure the timely analysis and remediation of PCs and notebooks and associated hardware
  • Remain up-to-date with advanced knowledge of desktop and laptop computing applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet


Minimum Professional Background Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC admin new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, troubleshooting and mitigation)
  • Strong computer debugging and problem isolation skill, talent to install temporary patches to resolve computer problems and escalate support when necessary
  • Broad background delivering software help to small companies for all Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365 programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Excellent speaking and written communication ability
  • Proven commitment to enabling continuous operations
  • Work independently and display marked quality of responsibility and drive
