Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting role that will be performed at Progent's client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and laptop computers powered by the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Primary Activities

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, diagnose and troubleshoot problems with all releases of Microsoft Windows-based PC and notebook computers and others as necessary.
  • Work directly with computer users in assisting to identify and resolve application and OS problems that hinder productivity
  • Deploy, configure and verify a range of applications on user workstations
  • Operate on-premises to find and resolve both urgent and chronic issues that affect the reliability, security, speed, connectivity, and overall functionality of desktops, laptops, imaging devices and other end user equipment
  • Deploy new end-user hardware and help with other deployments, upgrades, and exchanges of workstations, notebooks and associated equipment
  • Provide the prompt diagnosis and remediation of desktops and laptop computers and associated hardware
  • Remain current with an expert knowledge of PC and notebook applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet

Experience/Education

Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years experience in workstation admin new software setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and mitigation)
  • Strong computer debugging and fault isolation skill, talent to implement temporary patches to solve computer problems and escalate support when necessary
  • In-depth experience delivering software assistance to small companies for all Microsoft Windows OS, Office Suite, and Office 365 programs including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Proven dedication to facilitating uninterrupted productivity
  • Operate without supervision and show marked quality of ownership and motivation
