Research in Motion has introduced BlackBerry BES Express, featuring NO COST software and CAL licenses while providing the basic connectivity, security, and administration capabilities of BlackBerry BES Server such as wireless synchronization and mobile availability of files and applications. But the cost cuts don't end at free software and CAL licenses. Customers now get the option to select the BIS wireless data carrier plan rather than the BlackBerry Enterprise Server data carrier plan, saving your business up to $20 a month for every one of your BlackBerry clients!
RIM BlackBerry BES Server Express can be deployed directly on an Exchange or SBS server, recommended for as many as 75 clients, or on a dedicated BESX server which can support up to 2,000 users. BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express is ideal for small- and medium-sized organizations who until now couldn't financially justify connecting employees' BlackBerry smartphones to their corporate IT system.
The Express version of RIM BlackBerry BES does not offer high availability, monitoring, SQL database mirroring, or desk phone integration and limits the number of available IT polices from 450 to 35. Also, BIS BlackBerry smartphone data plan users will be required to perform an initial direct-attached enterprise activation to integrate with the BES. Subsequently they will enjoy the complete BlackBerry wireless messaging and personal organizer data experience including calendar, address books, tasks, and notes. Users with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server data plan can still enterprise activate their BlackBerry smartphones wirelessly.
