RIM BlackBerry has released BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express (BESX), offering FREE server software and CAL licenses while delivering the basic connectivity, security, and administration capabilities of BlackBerry BES Server including wireless synchronization and mobile availability of data and programs. And the price cuts don't end at free server software and CALs. Customers now get the option to choose the BIS data carrier plan rather than the BlackBerry Enterprise Server data plan, which can save you up to $20 per month for every one of your BlackBerry users!
BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express can be deployed directly on an Exchange or Small Business Server, recommended for up to 75 users, or on a dedicated server to support as many as 2,000 clients. RIM BlackBerry BES Server Express is ideal for smaller businesses who until now couldn't afford connecting their workers' BlackBerry devices to their corporate IT system.
The Express edition of RIM BlackBerry BES does not provide high availability features, monitoring, SQL database mirroring, or desk phone/PBX support and reduces the number of supported policies from 450 to 35. In addition, BIS BlackBerry smartphone data plan users will be required to execute the first wired enterprise activation to integrate with the BES. Subsequently they will have the complete BlackBerry mobile email and personal organizer data environment which includes scheduling, address books, do lists, and notes. Users with the BES wireless data plan can still enterprise activate their devices wirelessly.
