RIM BlackBerry has released BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express (BESX), offering FREE software and CAL licenses while providing the basic connectivity, protection, and administration capabilities of RIM BlackBerry BES Server including wireless sync and mobile access to files and applications. And the price cuts don't stop at free server software and CAL licenses. You also get the ability to select the BlackBerry Internet Service data carrier plan instead of the BES wireless data plan, saving your business up to $20 a month for every one of your BlackBerry clients!
RIM BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express can be installed on an Exchange or Small Business Server, recommended for up to 75 clients, or on a stand-alone BESX server which can support as many as 2,000 clients. BlackBerry BES Server Express is ideal for smaller businesses who until now could not afford connecting employees' BlackBerry smartphones to their corporate network.
The Express version of RIM BlackBerry BES Server does not provide high availability features, system monitoring, SQL database mirroring, or desktop phone/PBX integration and reduces the number of available policies from 450 to 35. In addition, BIS wireless data plan clients will be required to execute an initial direct-attached enterprise activation to integrate with the BES. After that they will have the complete BlackBerry mobile email and organizer data environment which includes scheduling, contacts, do lists, and notes. Those using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server wireless data carrier plan can continue to enterprise activate their BlackBerry smartphones wirelessly.
