Cisco's Meraki line of Wave 2 dual-band indoor APs includes low-cost devices for general use as well as high-end Wi-Fi Access Points that deliver throughput as fast as 2.5 Gbps. Other features of the Meraki line of indoor APs are a 1 GigE port, 802.3af PoE compatibility, hardware-accelerated encryption, wireless IPs, self-configured mesh routing, single-click protected guest access with a guest isolation firewall, customizable splash pages, built-in policy firewall for granular group or device-based access management, integrated antivirus, WPA2-Enterprise authentication with Active Directory integration, Layer 7 traffic shaping for prioritizing or throttling specified classes of applications, plus MIMO and integrated beam forming to support high density environments without sacrificing range.
Cisco's Meraki MR20 is an entry-level Wave 2 Wi-Fi AP intended for small office or home office (SOHO) deployments. The cloud-managed access point has 2x2:2 MU-MIMO with two spatial streams and delivers as much as 1.3 Gbps aggregate performance with 866 Mbps data rates in the 5 GHz band and 400 Mbps data rates in the 2.4 GHz band. The Meraki MR20 access point features Meraki's Air Marshal wireless intrusion prevention system for threat identification and remediation. The access point has a single 10/100/1000 BASE-T Ethernet RJ45 connection but not a Bluetooth BLE radio. The MR20 AP is desktop, ceiling, or wall mount capable.
Cisco's Meraki MR42 AP is an 802.11ac Wave 2 access point for performance-critical and/or crowded Wi-Fi LANs. The MR42 features 3×3:3 MU-MIMO technology with beamforming, delivers a top transmission rate of 1.9 Gbit/sec, includes a GbE port, and has a built-in Bluetooth BLE radio for scanning and Beaconing. The Cisco Meraki MR52 is a high-performance 802.11ac Wave 2 access point designed for densely populated campus and enterprise venues. The 4-radio MR52 offers 4×4 MU-MIMO technology with four spatial streams and beamforming, handles over-the-air data rates as high as 2.5 Gbps, supports 160 MHz channels, includes two GbE interfaces, and features a BLE radio. The Cisco Meraki MR53 wireless access point has the same specs as the Meraki MR52 but has one GbE interface plus a 2.5 Gbps Multigigabit Ethernet port.
Cisco's Meraki MR30H access point is a wall switch unit designed for hospitality or dorm room environments and features 2x2 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wave 2 technology. The access point includes a built-in 4-port GbE switch, and an integrated BLE radio for beaconing and scanning functions. The MR30H provides aggregate performance of up to 1.3 Gbps with simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios. Cisco's Meraki MR33 is a versatile AP suitable for offices, classrooms, hospitals, retail stores and other active venues. The Meraki MR33 offers the same feature set as the MR30H access point but is packaged in a low-profile enclosure and does not include a integrated 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch.
Legacy Meraki Indoor Wi-Fi Access Points
Cisco's Meraki MR18 access point, which has been discontinued, is a wall or desktop mountable 802.11n unit that can support combined throughput as fast as 600 Mbps with its concurrent 2x2:2 MIMO radios. This no-frills wireless access point is intended for general-purpose use in low to moderate density environments. Cisco's Meraki MR32 is a wall, ceiling or desktop mountable Wi-Fi AP with a 5 GHz 2x2:2 802.11ac radio and a 2.4 GHz 2x2:2 802.11n radio, offering a top aggregate frame rate of 1.2 Gbit/s. This device includes a Bluetooth radio for Beaconing and scanning and is intended for high-density venues like schools, hotels, and enterprise offices.
The Meraki MR34 AP, which has been discontinued, is a 802.11ac device that uses 3x3 MIMO technology with 1.75 Gbps throughput. Designed to handle high client densities, the MR34 offers 802.af Power over Ethernet as well as 802.3at PoE+. The Meraki MR34 does not include BLE.
Meraki Cloud-managed Outdoor/Industrial Wi-Fi APs
Cisco's Meraki outdoor APs are IP67 rated, designed to operate in rugged outdoor conditions, and able to withstand dust, shock and moisture. Cisco's Meraki outdoor access points include a 1 x Gbit Ethernet port and deliver advanced capabilities that include cloud management with network-wide visibility, 802.1X integration, built-in antivirus scan (NAC), single-click guest access and isolation firewall, Layer 7 traffic shaping, plus self-configuring mesh with MIMO.
Cisco's Meraki MR62 is a value-priced, single-radio 802.11n outdoor Wi-Fi, access point that delivers 300 Mbit/sec throughput and offers a single-radio mesh and VPN tunneling for teleworkers. The mid-range Meraki MR66 Wi-Fi, access point features dual-concurrent radios, provides a maximum of 600 Mbit/sec combined throughput, and features 2x2 MIMO technology, beamforming, and multi-radio mesh. Cisco's high-performance Meraki MR72 is a three-radio Wi-Fi AP that delivers data rates as high as 1.2 Gbps with combined 802.11ac and 802.11n 2x2:2 MIMO radios. A separate third radio is dedicated to WIDS/WIPS security and RF optimization. The MR72 access point also includes a BLE radio for Beaconing and scanning. The high-performance Meraki MR84 is a 4-radio outdoor access point engineered to handle difficult, high-density RF environments such as a sports stadium or other outdoor site. The MR84 includes 4×4:4 MU-MIMO, 160 MHz channels, a Gigabit Ethernet port plus a Multigigabit interface, and a built-in Bluetooth radio.
