Cisco Meraki Indoor Wave 2 Wi-Fi Access Points
The Meraki portfolio of Wave 2 indoor APs includes value-priced devices for ordinary use as well as high-end Wireless APs that deliver throughput as fast as 2.5 Gbps. All Cisco Meraki indoor access points offer advanced functions such as self-setup for easy deployment, built-in data protection and analytics, automatic updates, and unified cloud management for wireless environments of any scale, from a lone site to multi-site networks. Meraki indoor access points also feature radios with advanced receive sensitivity plus a unique wireless intrusion detection and prevention system (wIDS/wIPS) with a dedicated radio for spectrum analysis and realtime packet inspection.
Other features of the Cisco Meraki family of indoor APs are a Gigabit Ethernet port, 802.3af PoE support, realtime encryption, wireless IPs, self-configured mesh routing, single-click secure guest access with a guest isolation firewall, customizable splash pages, built-in policy firewall for in-depth group or appliance-based access control, integrated antivirus, WPA2-Enterprise authentication with 802.1X and Active Directory integration, Layer 7 traffic shaping for favoring or restricting specified classes of applications, plus MIMO and integrated beam forming to operate in crowded venues without compromising range.
Cisco's Meraki MR20 is an entry-level Wave 2 wireless AP designed for small office or home office deployments. The cloud-managed access point has 2x2:2 MU-MIMO with two spatial streams and supports up to 1.3 Gbps aggregate performance with 866 Mbps in the 5 GHz band and 400 Mbps data rates in the 2.4 GHz band. The MR20 AP features Meraki's Air Marshal wireless intrusion prevention system (WIPS) for threat detection and resolution. The access point has a single 10/100/1000 BASE-T Ethernet RJ45 connection but not a Bluetooth radio. The MR20 AP is desktop, ceiling, or wall mount capable.
The Cisco Meraki MR42 access point is a Wave 2 access point for performance-critical and/or high-density wireless networks. The MR42 supports 3×3:3 MU-MIMO with beamforming, provides a maximum transmission rate of 1.9 Gbit/sec, includes a 1 GigE interface, and has an integrated BLE radio for scanning and Beaconing. The Cisco Meraki MR52 is a high-speed 802.11ac Wave 2 access point intended for high-density campus and enterprise venues. The 4-radio MR52 features 4×4 MU-MIMO technology with four spatial streams and beamforming, delivers over-the-air data rates of up to 2.5 Gbps, supports 160 MHz channels, comes with two GbE ports, and features a BLE radio. The Meraki MR53 Wi-Fi access point has the same specs as the MR52 but includes one GbE port plus a 2.5 Gbps Multigigabit Ethernet port.
The Cisco Meraki MR30H access point is a wall switch unit intended for hospitality or dorm room venues and features 2x2 MU-MIMO 802.11ac Wave 2 technology. The AP includes a built-in 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch, and an integrated Bluetooth BLE radio for beaconing and scanning functions. The MR30H provides combined throughput as high as 1.3 Gbps with simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios. The Cisco Meraki MR33 is a versatile AP suitable for offices, classrooms, health care facilities, shops and other busy environments. The MR33 offers the same feature set as the MR30H AP but is encased in a low-profile enclosure and does not include a built-in 4-port GbE switch.
Legacy Cisco Meraki Indoor Wireless Access Points
The Cisco Meraki MR18 AP, which has been discontinued, is a wall or desktop mountable 802.11n compatible device that can deliver combined throughput of up to 600 Mbps with its two 2x2:2 MIMO radios. This no-frills wireless access point is intended for general-purpose use in low to moderate density environments. The Meraki MR32 is a wall, ceiling or desktop mountable wireless access point with a 5 GHz 2x2:2 802.11ac radio and a 2.4 GHz 2x2:2 802.11n radio, offering a top dual-radio frame rate of 1.2 Gbit/s. This access point includes a Bluetooth BLE radio for Beaconing and BLE scanning and is designed for high-density venues such as campuses, retail stores, and enterprise offices.
The Meraki MR34 access point, which has been discontinued, is a Wave 1 device that features 3x3 MIMO technology with 1.75 Gbps throughput. Intended to support high density environments, the MR34 offers 802.af Power over Ethernet as well as 802.3at PoE+. The MR34 does not include Bluetooth.
Cisco Meraki Cloud-managed Outdoor/Industrial Wi-Fi APs
Cisco's Meraki outdoor access points are IP67 certified, designed to withstand harsh outdoor environments, and able to resist dust particles, vibration and humidity. Cisco's Meraki outdoor access points include a 1 x Gbit Ethernet port and deliver advanced capabilities that include cloud-based management with network-wide visibility and control, 802.1X and native Active Directory integration, built-in antivirus scan (NAC), single-click guest access and isolation firewall, application-aware traffic shaping, plus self-configuring mesh with beamforming.
The Meraki MR62 is a value-priced, single-radio 802.11n outdoor Wi-Fi, access point that offers 300 Mbit/sec throughput and offers a single-radio mesh and VPN connectivity for teleworkers. The mid-range Meraki MR66 Wi-Fi, AP has dual-concurrent radios with band steering, provides up to 600 Mbit/sec aggregate performance, and features 2x2 MIMO, beamforming, and multi-radio mesh. The high-performance Meraki MR72 is a three-radio Wi-Fi access point that supports data rates of up to 1.2 Gbps with concurrent 802.11ac and 802.11n 2x2:2 MIMO radios. An additional third radio is devoted to WIDS/WIPS security and RF optimization. The MR72 access point also incorporates a low-energy Bluetooth radio for Beaconing and scanning. The ultra-fast Meraki MR84 is a 4-radio outdoor access point designed to handle difficult, high-density RF environments like a stadium or other outdoor site. The MR84 includes 4×4:4 MU-MIMO, 160 MHz channels, a GbE interface and a Multigigabit port, and an integrated BLE radio.
