Office 365 Word for Mac and Word for Mac 2016 feature a new Design Tab that allows immediate access to design elements and makes it simple to manage layout, colors and fonts across a document. Microsoft Office 365 Word for Mac streamlines layout management and teamwork
Microsoft Word for Mac 2011 includes enhancements in the areas of document viewing, template control, desktop publishing, graphics editing, typography, document search, sharing, and automation. The new Focus View feature enables you to eliminate distracting content to increase the screen area available for viewing your document. The Word Document Gallery streamlines access to built-in and custom templates as well as recent documents. Enhanced publishing capabilities include a more powerful Publishing Layout view, the ability to reorder layers dynamically, and additional graphic editing tools including background removal.
Microsoft Word for Mac 2008 introduced an improved user interface that has an extensible toolbar and incorporates a rudimentary desktop publishing toolset via the Publishing View that offers increased precision over layout of text and graphics and enables users to link text overflow from a given area to a specified text box on another page. Other capabilities built into Word for Mac 2008 include support for OpenType ligatures for more professional-looking type, and reference utilities that allow a variety of citation formats. Word for Mac 2008 supports AppleScript but does not work with VBasic for Applications. Microsoft Word for Mac 2004 introduced a Notebook View that enables you to tag important entries, find key terms, and add date-stamped voice recordings into your notes as you type. Reference Utilities permit you to access a dictionary or a thesaurus directly from the Office Toolbox, although there is also a hyperlink to Microsoft's now discontinued Encarta web encyclopedia. The Navigation Pane enables you to navigate through your document using the convenient document map.

Office 365 Excel for Mac and Excel for Mac 2016 introduce PivotTable Slicers to allow you to detect patterns within massive volumes of data. A new add-on, the Analysis Toolpak, facilitates complex statistical and engineering analyses. Compatibility with Windows versions of Excel is enhanced through support for familiar keyboard shortcuts and for the majority of the functions included with Office Excel 2013 for Windows. Additional improvements include a better Formula Builder Pane and the ability to print to a single PDF file.
Microsoft Office 365 Excel for Mac enhances compatibility with PC spreadsheets
Excel for Mac 2011 includes improvements in the areas of data analysis and charting, performance, graphics editing, programmability, data protection, and collaboration. The innovative Sparklines feature provides an instantaneous graphical summary of Excel information via miniature charts that are displayed within a cell next to the associated data. Conditional Formatting has been enhanced to make it easier to format information with icon sets, data bars, and color scales. You can now sort and filter data by color and can access multi- selection filters and convenient fast filtering options. Excel Tables (before known as Lists) enable you to make multiple groupings of related information for easy editing and analysis.
Microsoft Excel for Mac 2011 PivotTables have improved performance and closer compatibility with Windows editions of Office Excel. Improved editing capabilities and SmartArt graphics allow you to create professional-looking graphics without requiring outside photo-editing tools. As with Office Word for Mac 2011, Visual Basic for Applications support has been resumed, enhancing compatibility with Office Excel for Windows and introducing advanced capabilities including IntelliSense, watch windows, and a new Visual Basic debugging utility. You can manage access to Excel workbooks by using Information Rights Management (IRM) and share protected workbooks across platforms. To improve sharing, Excel for Mac 2011 permits you to create cross-platform workbooks and exchange dates among workbooks without having to differentiate between 1900 vs. 1904 date systems.
Microsoft Excel for Mac 2008 supports the same number of spreadsheet cells as the Windows version of Excel and introduced the Formula Builder for simplifying the writing of complex formulas. Microsoft Excel for Mac 2008 also comes with an Elements Gallery with templates for common tasks including company payroll. Just like the 2008 version of Word for Mac, Microsoft Excel for Mac 2008 doesn't support Visual Basic for Applications. PowerPoint for Mac 2011 includes enhanced functionality in the areas of template management, picture touchup, movie support, animations, layer and slide management, pacing, sharing, security, search, performance, and automation. PowerPoint's Media Browser allows convenient access to a wide selection of media libraries including Apple iPhoto albums, iTunes playlists, and iMovie libraries plus shapes, Clip Art and other visual data. The PowerPoint Presentation Gallery simplifies management of pre-built and specialized templates plus recent presentations. New picture editing capabilities include a background deletion tool plus powerful utilities for touchup, coloring, and trimming. You can also embed and format videos from within PowerPoint for Mac to make them an integral part of a show, making it easier to distribute and manage sophisticated slide shows. You can also add 3-dimensional slide transitions and have access to an expanded library of animation effects, customizable themes, enhanced chart tools, and more SmartArt graphics with new sets of org charts and picture diagrams.
Microsoft Office PowerPoint for Mac 2008 includes Smart Art for easily turning bulleted displays into a variety of diagrams. The Object Palette utility organizes formatting options for quick updating. A zoom slider makes it simple to alter the size of objects. Office 365 Outlook for Mac supports side-by-side calendars to simplify scheduling
Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 takes the place of Entourage and has been re-architected to deliver substantial improvements in the areas of usability, calendar management, backup and restoration, search, Windows coexistence, sharing, speed, video conferencing, voice mail, mobility, IM, and rich presence. The Office Outlook for Mac database for email, contact information, and calendars is now stored in individual text files, making them simpler to manage.
