Progent is looking for Desktop Support Consultants to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client premises in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. In addition, work extensively with customer's executives, management, IT staff or under the direction or guidance of our senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Desktop Support Specialist

Required Areas of Expertise
Microsoft Exchange-based Outlook email
Microsoft operating systems and applications, workstation, notebook and peripheral integration, remote access for teleworkers and mobile users
Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
Basic network management, such as user maintenance
Support, analyze and resolve issues with all releases of Windows-powered desktop and notebook systems and others as needed.
Work directly with computer end users in helping to find and fix app and operating system problems that hinder user productivity
Deploy, integrate and verify a range of popular apps on user workstations
Work on-premises to find and fix both emergency and persistent problems that affect the stability, protection, performance, accessibility, and overall functionality of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other hardware
Deploy new end-user equipment and help with other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of PCs, laptop computers and related hardware
Assure the timely analysis and repair of workstations and notebooks and related equipment
Stay updated with an expert knowledge of workstation and notebook computing applications and use of connectivity technologies including the Internet
Minimum Professional Background Requirements
Three years background in desktop PC administration new program setup, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and correction)
Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation skill, talent to implement short-term patches to solve computer problems and escalate support when required
Broad background providing software assistance to small organizations for all Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
High-level speaking and written communication ability
Proven commitment to enabling uninterrupted operations
Operate without supervision and display distinct characteristics of ownership and motivation
