Progent is seeking Desktop Support Consultants to help our clients with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is required, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support users of all desktop and laptop computers powered by current Microsoft technologies. In addition, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the client's end users.

Desktop Support Specialist

Key Areas of Expertise
Exchange-based Outlook email client
Microsoft software products, PC desktop, laptop and peripheral setup, offsite access for users
Setup and validate Virtual Private Network (VPN) configurations
Basic network administration, such as user maintenance
Support, analyze and troubleshoot issues with all releases of Microsoft Windows-powered PC and laptop computer systems and others as necessary.
Work directly with computer end users in helping to find and fix application and operating system issues that disrupt user productivity
Deploy, integrate and verify a range of popular apps on user workstations
Work on-site to find and remediate both urgent and persistent problems that impact the reliability, protection, performance, accessibility, and general functionality of desktops, notebooks, printers and other hardware
Install new end-user equipment and perform other deployments, updates, and exchanges of desktops, laptop computers and associated equipment
Provide the prompt analysis and remediation of desktops and laptop computers and related equipment
Remain up-to-date with advanced knowledge of workstation and notebook computing applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet
Minimum Work Experience Requirements
Three years experience in desktop PC administration new software configuration, computer and peripheral deployment, trouble analysis and resolution)
Strong computer troubleshooting and problem isolation ability, talent to implement short-term patches to resolve network issues and escalate support services when necessary
Broad background providing software assistance to small organizations for all Microsoft Windows operating systems, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
High-level speaking and written communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to facilitating continuous operations
Work without supervision and display distinct characteristics of responsibility and drive
