Progent is looking for Desktop Support Experts to assist our customers with maintenance, break/fix and project work. This is a 1099 consulting position that will be performed at our client sites in the San Francisco Bay Area. Daytime availability is needed, Monday through Friday. Our consultant will maintain and support clients of all desktop and notebook computers based on the latest Microsoft technologies. Also, work closely with client's executives, management, IT group or under the direction or guidance of Progent's senior consultant to support the customer's end users.

Essential Activities

Main Responsibilities
  • Support, analyze and resolve problems with all releases of Windows-powered PC and laptop systems and others as required.
  • Work with computer users in helping to identify and resolve application and OS problems that disrupt productivity
  • Install, configure and test a variety of popular apps on user PCs
  • Operate on-site to diagnose and remediate both urgent and chronic issues that reduce the reliability, security, performance, connectivity, and general functionality of workstations, notebooks, imaging devices and other hardware
  • Deploy new end-user equipment and perform other installations, upgrades, and exchanges of desktops, notebooks and associated hardware
  • Provide the timely analysis and remediation of workstations and notebooks and related hardware
  • Stay current with advanced knowledge of desktop and notebook computing applications and utilization of WAN infrastructure including the Internet


Minimum Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years background in desktop PC admin new software configuration, computer and peripheral integration, troubleshooting and correction)
  • Strong computer troubleshooting and fault isolation ability, knowledge to implement short-term patches to resolve computer problems and escalate support when required
  • Broad experience providing software assistance to small companies for all Windows OS, Office Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • High-level speaking and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to enabling continuous productivity
  • Work without supervision and show marked characteristics of responsibility and drive
